Direct debit question.

Hi, if you have just been accepted for a mobile contract with a company and later have found out they are one and the same as another you are in dispute with over a contract. Owned by same company.

Can you when forced to cancel direct debit to account in dispute protect your account from them just adding it onto the other account which although the company have joined as one are sold as seperate phones with different companies.

T mobile and Orange.

I need to protect my account from orange trying to take money from my account as plan to honor the contract to t mobile as dont have dispute with them.

Am I right to be concerned that orange might just take the money through the same direct debit or am I protected that only the t mobile contract can access the direct debit set up with t mobile contract.:o

I have legit issue with orange and plan to take them to regulators for not fit for purpose re the first disputed contract.

Thanks.

Only tmobile will be able to access it as per the direct debit mandate and you would be able to enforce the direct debit guarantee if required.

You might find though that tmobile actually might just refuse service to you once the systems are merged properly etc.
  • Hi colacubes,

Only T-Mobile will have access to your Direct Debit details as they operate as a separate Service Provider, using different systems etc. If you have cancelled your request with Orange no money will be taken. Have you cancelled the DD from the bank side of things too? If not this would be the next step to take.

    Hope this helps.
