Three shady practices

Hi,

Has anybody had any issues with 3 at the end of your contract?

My GF has received a letter saying that she has entered into a new 12 month contract at £x pcm with xxx mins and xxx texts and xx data but she hasn't even spoken to 3!

I think that somebody in their sales team (possibly abroad) has signed her up as she is approaching the end of her contract without talking to her to meet their sales targets.

Or it could be ID theft..

Get on to them right away and find out. Do not just ignore it.

If it is an open acc in her name it needs to be raised with their fraud dept now to save her major problems later.

    Thanks Jon,

She was coming to the end of a 24 month contract and it has been extended, couldn't think why someone would want to extend the contract as she has the mobile phone associated with it!

It's a good deal as well, something like £8 pcm for 500 mins or texts and 512 MB data and 2 GB internet dongle. The problem is she needs a new phone and I have been trying to persuade her to leave 3 (apparently they have sent her a phone before and claimed that she signed up for a new upgrade when she didn't).

They tried to do the same thing to me...after I called them to cancel!

I spoke to someone to cancel my contract back in Jan/Feb, they agreed to cancel and two weeks later I had a letter arrive thanking me for continuing my contract! I called them up as soon as I could 1. to prevent the contract from being continued and 2. to spit bricks at whomever I could for stressing me out as they have in the past acted very unethically (thier words not mine in a veiled apology to me).

I had someone apologise but then say "oh but why not just continue the contract and when you want to leave just go you haven't got to wait until it ends" but the letter read it ended December 2011 and I stated this, he then hesitated and before he could get a word in edgeways I launched in to the longest rant known to man! He 'let' me cancel the new contract in the end.

I think they are very shady, I think they are losing customers and they are not meeting their targets, wonder why....
  • I just had a nightmare with 3.
To cut prt of a long story short. last year my partner went through 6 phones in 8 months and was basically told to either pay for repairs himself of buy a new phone. I brought him and Iphone off ebay as 3 were no help.

We both decided to cancel our contracts when they came up for renewal, I originally phoned 3 last month to give my 30 days notice. Went through the usual process of questions asking why I wanted to leave, what deals was I looking at as they could probably beat it. One reason I gave for leaving is I never recieved signal at my mums house, I gave them my mums postcode and was told they have excellent signal in that area and the reason I didnt get any signal was because my phone was basically crap. Told them my partner didnt get signal with an iphone (or any of the other 6 phones they sent him) so Id rely on my experience not what their computer told me. skipping the rest of a long conversation was then told I couldnt cancel til April 25th after saying at least 10 times I wanted to cancel.

So phoned again this week to cancel and the conversation started the same way started asking all the same questions as before to which I just asnwered, "I don't want to go through all this again, I told your collegue the answer last month. I just want to cancel my contract." But they just kept going on and on. I lost count of the times I said "I just want to cancel my contract". After telling the guy what happened to my partner and telling him again I wantedd to cancel my phone he even had the cheek to say "I can tell by your voice that you are frustrated about your partners experience." It didnt seem to occur to him that I was frustrated because I had been on the phone for 20 mins continually saying I wanted to cancel. I ended up hanging up on the guy because I was getting so frustrated, he then phoned me back telling me to maybe have a look at other networks if I wanted to and then phone again if I wanted my PAC number, I said no I want my PAC number now I dont want to phone again.

Next day I get a call from their customer services, offering me a "free contract" which turned out to be I pay them £10 a month and they will give me a £10 comet voucher, and I still had to pay for a new phone that was limit to a Nokia. He even said it would only be an 18 month contract "which you cant get anymore", to which I pointed out the phone I was looking at was only an 18 month contract. This was their way of apologising for my partners experience (but when he complained they didnt want to know). I said it was pointless as I dont shop at comet and didnt even know if there was one near me, the guy kept going on and on again I had to put the phone down on him mid sentance as he didn't seem to understand when I said "I wouldn't stay with 3 even if you were to pay me."
Since then Ive had 2 calls from an automated system to ask about the serviced I recieved, which Ive hung up on. If I get a third Ill tell them exactly what I think of them.

Sorry if this is a bit long winded, I just needed to vent aa bit lol

Well my GF has left them, it took her about 20 mins on the phone saying 'can I have my PAC code please' but finally they text her it and she has signed up with o2.

BEWARE ALL - stay away from three, you're better off paying a bit extra to get better customer service (and avoid fraudulant practices)

know where your coming from at the end of my contract i kept getting retention offers from 3 and most of then were 'refreshed' which i told them i did not want.
every offer to them was unbeatable and during one conversation the signal kept failing so we did not get to the end of the matter.
the next day i called to close my account as was told i had renewed a 24 month contract, when i complained the salesperson said that they would have to investigate and i would hear from them in 3 days.
i then cancelled outright and when they phoned a few days later i put the phone down, very shady sales team:mad:
