There wouldn't be an issue here but, if you had been claiming unemployment benefits and received an inheritance and then worked for a short time and then claimed benefits again, you might be questioned on what you'd done with the money - or you might not.
The OP's friend should stop worrying.
That seems reasonable, I had been working for about 44 years so they probably thought I was ok.It's someone else's fault.0
