Condems decided:
To press on & build
Make pilots redundant
Scrap planes
And sell to a country in an unstable area where we actually might need them
Nutters & to top it all off they are £2b out on figures. Lovely0 -

If we the country had stuck with that idiot aka G.Brown what exactly would he have done with the carriers and the planes? He was the one who kept writing the blank cheques I bet contractors loved seeing his party of 'experts on cost' coming along to sign contracts which were win win for the contractor not the tax payer.
It's not they can do no wrong it's they can't do right because the last lot made a mess were either way the tax payer ends up paying out.0 -
What a complete waste of time, energy and resources building/not building these hideous things."The problem with quotes on the internet is that you never know whether they are genuine or not" -

Between a rock and a hard place really.
If they scrapped them, the coalition would have faced the good old call of nasty cuts.
If they proceed, the coalition face this sort of thing.
I know from experience it's difficult to take over the reigns of something which is controversial no matter what you do. You simply cannot do right, all you can do, is work with what you are faced with. I've also found that once the initial "oh my god, you are doing what" (which would have been the response whichever way you went) the focus is quickly moved elsewhere, and the faux outrage soon forgotten about.0 -

That is bull.
It is business. If you scrap a project you scrap a project at the lowest possible cost.

it will be the 2nd period of ConDem's being in charge and people will still be blaming Labour for ConDem fcuk up's.
it's like the unofficial tory party forum on here. oppose that view and you get called a labour party member.0 -
Actually doing work for the MOD as a private firm can be terribly demoralising.
Endless changes and you end up not bothering because you know the latest design version that you are struggling over is going to be revised/changed/ignored/abandoned. You start to dread these tenders - which go on for years and years and look forward to getting back onto the standard fare of normal commercial work.
I guess our executives at group level couldn't really tell the MOD where to go and that actually we had better things to spend our time on than their wretched projects.0
