I'd say take a photocopy or scan of both sides, soyou have a barcode and the security number on the scratch panel. That way, if it gets lost, Camelot can check their systems to ensure it hasn't been cashed.
Make sure you scratch off enough of the silver stuff to reveal a number on the card - you must write down the last 4 numbers of that which are in little boxes. It's hard to explain but if you get your scratchcard you'll see :)

Thats what I thought, bloody hell its a grand! 70 miles in nothing, surely you would make a point of getting there.

I'd find the means for a grand.

So would you three be happy if your respective employers suddenly told you that you would, from now on, be paid by cheque and you had to personally go and pick it up from 70 miles away every month?

The £1000 belongs to the OP and it should not be for some jobsworth at a post office to make them jump through hoops for it.

Camalot require ID,so I assume its them who stipulate ID requirements
To claim any prize above £500 you will have to complete a prize claim form and give proof of your identity. If you are claiming a large prize, additional checks on your winning ticket may be conducted. All National Lottery Game prizes must be claimed no later than the 180th day after the closing date of the particular Game. Any such prize not claimed within this period will be forfeited.

none of the ID taken is proof of ID
only that a female has a bank account, mobile phone and lives at X address
not that its the person at the counter

    1) there's 2 of us
    2) I don't have an employer (own business)
    3) Post office have to work to the rules set by the lottery
    4) Would you have been happy if you won 1k, went to post office and they said that they had given the money to someone impersonating you.

You wouldn't do it every month but i think for a one off £1000 I would be prepared to travel the 70 miles to get a grand at the end of it. The OP could make a weekend of it, Liverpool is a lovely city in the summer and they've got a grand to spend :o Failing that its £50 to get a provisional driving license, they could spend that use it as photo id and still end up £950 up!

Such a bizarre comparison, its hardly the same thing. Its a one off big lottery won, I think the whole questioning of this must have took the shine off now. The excitement will certainly have gone! I cant believe your'e turning an exciting trip to pick up a grand into a chore :(

Thats a good idea :) Problem is this is common sense which doesn't appear too often on this forum. If there is a chance to lose out in the name of "customer power" then most people appear to be fine with it.

You can get a mortgage wwithout photo id so I can't believe you can't claim a grand from the post office without. I would ring Camelot for confirmation of acceptable ID and then go back to the post office.

Thats a stupid comparison. You have to jump through an awful lot of hoops to get a mortgage..

If they require photo ID to pick up a win then that is what you must provide.
