Electric heater or Calor gas?

After using a calor gas heater for a number of years I'd recommend staying away from them. Ok, they do pump out a fair bit of heat but the downsides really outweigh the benefits. The cylinders are really expensive now compared to a few years ago (almost double), they do smell no matter how much ventilation you make and they'll still create condensation. They may still be cheaper than an electric convector heater but at least the latter gives a non-odourless dry heat. IMO Calor gas heaters do have their place but are much better suited for a workshop or garage than inside the home.0

If you get a electric heater better still go for a oil filled one as they hold the heat for longer and are even better than convectors,charlotte289 wrote: »Interesting... Calor must have hiked their prices recently or something. Maybe I will get a convector heater after all. I can't really make my mind up0

These are NOT better than convector heaters, which produce circulation of heat with no extra use of power and also produce heat instantly. The only advantage of oil-filled heaters is if you are on Economy7 and still need the heat just after the cheap period ends (07.30 winter, 0830 summer), as they take several minutes to cool down.0
