  • I still recommend determining whether the problem is hardware or software before proceeding down the software route.

    My suggestion is being buried in lots of soft fix posts.

    Test it outside of Windows to see if it's hardware,

    you do that with a boot disk of some sort, anything that lets you type

    the bios will let you test arrow keys, return and sorts

  • His old keyboard is the old connection type. If his puter runs xp though, can I plug a USB keyboard in to try?

    or you could pick off all the keys and place them where they make the right letter? :beer:
  • I've just gone through the alphabet and when we type the following letters, I get the result shown:

    b=return
    e=v
    f=c
    j=i
    o=m
    t=space

    I wish I had that much free time!

    Brings back fond memories of my time at Bletchley Park!
  • Getting offtopic, but rearranging the letters reminds me when we did that to our supervisor - great fun

    Well...

    I plugged in my USB KB and it works. Looks like it'd either the old KB or the PS2 driver then.

    I saw a KB in Tesco yesterday for about £5.......or maybe I could try freecycle
