I still recommend determining whether the problem is hardware or software before proceeding down the software route.

His old keyboard is the old connection type. If his puter runs xp though, can I plug a USB keyboard in to try?0

You shouldnt need any drivers for any usb keyboard, windows will use its own default drivers0 -
or you could pick off all the keys and place them where they make the right letter? :beer:0

Well...
I plugged in my USB KB and it works. Looks like it'd either the old KB or the PS2 driver then.
I saw a KB in Tesco yesterday for about £5.......or maybe I could try freecycle0
