Check that the keyboard settings are for UK layout. Control panel, keyboard then advanced tab or something (can't quite remember)."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

Sounds like he's managed to map <Enter> to the letter B .
The only way I know in Windows is to download MS's Kernel Toys (remap utility). But I didn't think it was available to Win98 et al http://www.microsoft.com/windows95/downloads/contents/wutoys/w95kerneltoy/default.asp
Try adding another keyboard and language (US) and select to delete UK, restart and reverse the procedure. And if he's downloaded the above I suggest deleting it.0 -
I've just gone through the alphabet and when we type the following letters, I get the result shown:
b=return
e=v
f=c
j=i
o=m
t=space0 -
Test it outside of Windows to see if it's hardware,
you do that with a boot disk of some sort, anything that lets you type
the bios will let you test arrow keys, return and sortsOrder of events: Banks lose our money -> get bailed out -> were inflating GBP to cover it -> now taxing us -> next will grab your funds direct -> things get really desperate to balance the books. What should have happened?: banks go bust and we lost our money much quicker0 -

Boot up into safe mode then uninstall the keyboard in "Add/Remove" then remove it in device manager and reboot. After reboot, reinstall keyboard. If it is a wireless keyboard it may only be necessary to change it's batteries.0

Have you looked at Superscraper's suggestion? Check the keyboard is set correctly. If you are not sure go into Device Manager and - I know it sounds severe - DELETE the keyboard. Restart the PC and it will find the correct drivers for your keyboard.
Check the Language settings as well. Ensure that you ONLY have English UK set. If not, add it and dlete all others then reboot.0 -

the drivers for the keyboard are standard xp ones they should be fine. I'd be more tempted to check he hasn't spilled something into the keyboard etc. Have you got another keyboard to try?0
