As a member of Lovefilm for a number of years, I have only had one disc go missing. They have a process in which you can report the disc going missing (click "Report a problem" under the My Account menu) - they then take the issue up with Royal Mail.

I would imagine if it keeps happening, they would look to recover their costs from either the member or Royal Mail, depending on whether they can trace where the discs are going missing. I know that Lovefilm do recommend sending discs back via Recorded if it becomes apparant that discs are constantly going missing, and I assume the member is going to be liable for the extra postage charges for sending it Recorded.

I have always found Lovefilm to be helpful, so why not give them a call and explain it? They will make a note on their system that something isnt right, and it will get looked into. Talking of their phone support, they are the most helpful Indian call centre I have ever come across.

Maybe they have another call centre in UK as when I called them it was a lad from Leeds

I've never been put through to anyone who remotely sounds English, it always gives off the impression of being outsourced to India.

Espeically the email suport, they usually sign off with names like Mohammad etc.

I know its presumptious, but it just always seemed that way

Weird, maybe I was lucky then. I think it was twice I contacted them, first to ask if they streamed blu-ray (they dont) and second 10 mins later to cancel the contract. First call was lad from Leeds, second was indian sounding now you mention it.

what broadband speed do you have?
would take a very good connection to stream a bluray

I know BBC iPlayer have been playing around with different quality settings etc, and although I know it isnt full HD or anything but their "High Quality" setting on iPlayer takes a good 5meg connection to stop the video from stuttering.

And Xbox's Zune player streams in HD, again it needs to be a good 5meg connection at least, otherwise it keeps buffering the video mid-film.

To be honest, I dont care much for Lovefilm's streaming service. I usually watch it on the PS3 but they never have any decent films on there anyway. Just the old rubbish ones :rotfl:

    Thanks for all the replies.

To be honest, LoveFilm have said they will look into both cases and have reset my 2 discs (ie so the games are not outstanding) on my account.

If the discs did not get back to them then I would consider recorded delivery in future but on both occasions when the games were sent back, they were sent back with another dvd in the envelope as well. You can return 2 discs in one envelope. The fact that one of the titles from the envelopes was returned correctly and taken off my account suggests that the envelopes actually got to LoveFim ok.

I just don't want the feeling that I am responsible for the losses even though I am not.

I use the discs mainly for the games rentals and stream the films (unless its not on the LoveFilm streaming service) onto my PS3.

Hopefully these 2 are isolated incidents but in future I will a) get a proof of posting and b) only send one disc back per envelope :)

Other than these hiccups I find the service great and reasonable when you factor in game costs nowadays.

Coincidently happened one rental after another when I was renting the Steven Speilbergs Taken series and on each occasion the other disc that got returned from the envelope was indeed Taken (disc 1,2 etc) so maybe the games were ermmm taken? ;)

well if you think about it
a bluray is what? say 30gb
so you would need a connection that could download that 30gb in 90 minutes with overhead for communication over the connection

It's great, there's all the new releases too. Saves waiting for it to be delivered.

It was wishful thinking, I knew blu ray streaming was not realistic.

Iplayer hd is perfect for me, plays straight through and never stutters.
