Ok, time for a big push on decluttering in the run up to Christmas. I'm not expecting to get much money (if any) but I do want the space. Yesterday DD and I took two big sacks of cast-off clothes to a friend. We stopped for a drink and a chat and she said money was tight and clothes for her DD were much appreciated - so I've been good for somebody else's moneysaving, anyway. :)

Let's see how much decluttering I can get done before bedtime. I have already got off to a bad start by not doing any this morning :o and eating too many of the chocolate biscuits I bought yesterday on special. :o

I'll be out tonight at church and meeting up with friends in the afternoon, so it'll be a challenge to see if I can get anything significant done. Perhaps one or two of you lovely MFWs can give me a kick to get me going and stop me giving up.

Hang on, eating the choccie biscuits IS decluttering... otherwise they would just be hanging round like all the other clutter.

    Well done! :rotfl:

Thanks. :) It's not as though I paid for most of the clothes. My SIL gives me free clothes for DD when my niece has grown out of them, and so does DD's godmother when her girls have done likewise. So handing them on down to an even younger little girl for free feels like the right thing to do.

In the last couple of hours, I have sorted a ginormous pile of clean laundry into piles for me, DS and DD, paired a huge number of socks, put my clothes away, emptied and reloaded the DW, and made DS & DD tidy the living room. So, only one bag of actual decluttering so far - a few outgrown clothes that are too worn out to hand on and need to go to fabric recycling - but progress all the same. We can't declutter until the surface untidiness is out of the way.

I love that idea, Sepa. I've been letting DS & DD declutter some, but I haven't had any more myself (yet).

DS & DD are just finishing their lunch, and then we'll crack on.

ETA It is now 8:30pm. Two big boxes of stuff have gone in the loft and another is just about ready to go. The bag for fabric recycling is full to bursting, and there's a big black bin liner sack full of rubbish that I'll take out to the wheelie bin when I can be bothered to put any shoes on. Have stopped to eat. Will try to get going again once kids in bed. Didn't go to church, though - DS feeling unwell. Still, the carol service is repeated tomorrow, so we can go then instead. :)

Have now decluttered the four  boxes of stuff that were in the corner of the room where I want to put the Christmas tree. :j

Now need to feed kids, go to carol service, and make sure I get my butt back in gear and do some more decluttering when I get back this evening.

Thanks for all the encouragement, everyone - comments, "thanks", anything to show there's somebody reading - it all helps to keep me motivated.

On the money front, today will be a near-miss NSD. Just need butter, baked beans, and DW tabs, all of which I'm completely out of. Shoot me if I come back with anything else as well!

I desperately need to declutter, I dread opening the playroom door these days. Well done you, there's something quite satisfying about a good old declutter.
