The money that I transferred on Monday has disappeared into the ether. I sent it from my online banking to my Tesco bank savings account. But it changed its sort code when they upgraded their system a couple of months ago, and I had forgotten to update it on my list of payees on my current account. So I have just sent a big wodge of money to an invalid sort code. My current account bank say i will get it back, but maybe not for two weeks. But I may need to pay the big bill before then. Aargh. Now I need to arrange an OD to cover the gap between paying the bill and getting the money back from wherever it's disappeared to.

Yippee. It has managed to arrive in the Tesco savings account despite the out of date sort code. I heard yesterday that the big bill it is for was put in the post yesterday, so now I will be able to pay it. Phew. :)

A bad few days money-wise, but I think it was necessary. I have been taking the kids out to make up for not going away on holiday. We've been to the cinema, and to visit a friend (free but we had a pub meal on the way home), and just generally places that may be free in themselves but cost in petrol, and I've been a bit slack about buying expensive snacks for them while we've been out.

It's all taken a lot of time, though, and I'm seriously behind with the washing. Must go and put some in now. Then I'll be able to hang it on my new ceiling airer! :)

    You have a Sheila's Maid?

Yes, although I didn't know until now that that was what it's called. Actually, that seems to be a brand name, and mine isn't that brand, so maybe it isn't. Anyway, what I've got looks the same as what I see when I search google images for Sheila's maid. My house has a big utility room, so it seemed ideal.

I've only just got it, so I'm still excited about it. :o But it seemed like a very moneysaving sort of thing, so I thought here would be a good place to tell about it.

Oops, I've kept my spending diary up to date but haven't said so in my sig.

I'm exactly the same as you, it's funny how much excitement a simple thing like that can give me! That's what I love about moneysaving etc! :o

We had one in the kitchen when I was growing up - just called it a clothes pulley I think. They are very handy though but as it was in the kitchen we had to take the clothes off it when cooking anything that might make them smell!!
