Benefits questions

there is a big difference between being on benefit through circumstance and actively choosing to be on benefit.0

I just dropped into this thread and after reading the post thought - hey I'll bet all of my friends on 'Ignore' will love this one!!!
Was I disappointed No!
Within 4 minutes of the post appearing they all come up out of their burrows like meercats - Sunnyone, dmg24 and bertiebat.
What do they do - make comments that have no bearing whatsoever in trying to answer the questions. Instead we get the usual sly and disjointed opinions. They do it every time.
By the way where is Healy and the rest of the merry crowd?
To the Poster, just ignore them, they have a mission to insult people, and criticise their intentions.
Everybody on here is getting fed up with their constant bashing of people of one benefit or another.
Then they start demanding that posters are removed from the forum!
I have them all on Ignore - I have learnt sense to switch them off!
All this from suicide man!
(Sorry OP, not meaning to be offensive, but diolch posts under many different names, including one where he pretended to commit suicide.)Gone ... or have I?0 -
The country is in a mess, there isn't enough money to go around, you are having another baby - and you are proposing CUTTING your hours at work? Has the world gone completely mad???
But perhaps its because I'm 68, my OH has died, my income has halved and I'm going back to work (25 hours a week) in order to increase my income that I think that your thinking is completely and utterly skewed.
Just how much work do you think that bringing up two small children can be? We brought up 4 children quite satisfactorily I think - with OH working full time and me working part time at first. Why not try that - you might find it rewarding!
But if it makes sense to cut hours and claim benefits and end up with the same income why not do it. Why work when you don't have to?
The benefit system is there to be taken advantage of. If you choose to not do so - then that is your choice. Others may have other ideas and to be honest I don't blame them.
By the way, I'm 62 and the wife is 66 - so?0 -

pride, self respect, wanting to pay your own way, self reliance, future prospects........need i go on?0

errr no there isn't.
Many choose to be on benefit because in net terms you are no worse off or no better off than working!
As an example, I took my pension and could have carried on working 20 hrs pw. I didn't. It was not worth my while, running two cars, petrol to get to and from work, spending money etc to earn after tax & NIC no more than I get in benefits.
So I sold the second car and now have all the time in the world to enjoy my hobbies and receive over £120 pw week in benefits instead and don't have the expenses - I'm actually better off when you really think about it!
If you can't see the sense in that then I give up!0 -

Funny how you can read people's post's who you've got on 'ignore', have you suddenly gained x-ray vision now, another one of your many talents!0 -

I'm sure that people have that on their conscience!
Given a choice of working for your money or having it given to you is a no brainer!!!
Sod the pride, self respect etc. You have some wierd way of looking at life if that is what drives you on.0 -
i think you'll find that it's your way of thinking that is weird lol
why would anyone ever work if they all felt like you?0 -
There's arguments for both sides it seems, i agree with the people who have slating what i suggested but as others have said it's a no brainer if it means more time to see my family. A friend of mine does exactly what i'm suggesting and at first i thought what a scrounger ect! But then i thought hang on why should we work so much and have a poor quality of life by comparison for the same money?
It's not my fault the world is such a messed up place with footballers on 200k a week while others are starving but yes if the opportunity is there to do what i've suggested then i can't blame people for doing that.
However as i kind person who PM'd me said it wouldn't work for us anyway since you can't get benefits help if you've chosen to save all your life rather than spending your wages down the pub every weekend and i've been put off the idea anyway with some comments about the changes due to be implimented by the tories so i'll be staying as i am working full time although i can't really agree we have many future prospects. I also don't really agree that working your butt off for poor pay and no thanks and little to no time with your family is a good example for your kids. The example i'll be setting whether i'm claiming benefits or not will be to do well in school so as to get a decent paying job and never be in the rock and a hard place situation that we seem to find ourselves in.0
