To be fair I dont see an issue.

If they have worked and saved well why should they be worse off than a family that is exactly the same but has chosen to waste their money?

Lets not forget, most of the mess that this country is in is through borrowing and spending obscene amounts of money. It is stupidity to reward such behaviour.

Why should a perfectly healthy family only work sixteen hours between them?

Being a parent is more than just providing financially for kids. With that in mind if you live in a country that rewards not working, a country that your not an awefull lot worse off by working less / not working AND you get to spend more family time with your kids then its a no brainer.

So because it can be done, that makes it ok? You are aware that the majority of children who come from homes where benefits are claimed as a lifestyle choice, will also spend their lives on benefits? Sounds like a pretty sad life to me.

Being a parent is setting a good example to your children. If you think that is a good example ...

I do agree to an extent, i guess it's easy to be bitter when i ask why should a perfectly healthy family work zero hours and be better off than us? who work day and night shifts, rarely even get the opportunity to have a family meal together and often literally have to hand our child over like a relay as one finishes and the other starts.

We've worked 70 hours a week between us and saved hard for a decade but still can't get a house, i understand where some of you are coming from and some of it is certainly worth thinking about but in our current situation it just seems unfair that we can't just get a mortgage work hard and look forward to eventually retiring, but we can't even look forward to that.

If your ambition is to get a mortgage and buy your family a home why would you want to reduce the family income so much?

If you cut your hours to 16 now you'll be in for a shock when the tax credits rules change and you'll need to work for 24 hours to qualify. Some employers just wont have another 8 hours to give you when the time comes.

So you would rather be like the dole scum who have no ambition in life, for themselves or their children? You are clearly not unintelligent, but what you are describing is sacrificing your principles for money. I think you are better than that, aren't you?

I just dropped into this thread and after reading the post thought - hey I'll bet all of my friends on 'Ignore' will love this one!!!
    Was I disappointed No!

Within 4 minutes of the post appearing they all come up out of their burrows like meercats - Sunnyone, dmg24 and bertiebat.
What do they do - make comments that have no bearing whatsoever in trying to answer the questions. Instead we get the usual sly and disjointed opinions. They do it every time.

By the way where is Healy and the rest of the merry crowd?

To the Poster, just ignore them, they have a mission to insult people, and criticise their intentions.
Everybody on here is getting fed up with their constant bashing of people of one benefit or another.
Then they start demanding that posters are removed from the forum!

I have them all on Ignore - I have learnt sense to switch them off!
