Until they provide you full details i would also not pay them a penny...good luck and let us know what happened..It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.0 -

Why don't you let them take you to court then they will need to prove you took them out to the judge. ...Once you have been taken to court and in the very unlikely event that a CCJ is granted you can still pay it off (quickly) and not have a CCJ recorded against your name.If it got to the stage of judgement against you and a CCJ but pay within 30 days the CCJ will not be registered against you. You will have to pay the court costs as well though. If you do not pay the full amount (including court costs) within 30 days then the CCJ will be registered against you for 6 years.
Guys - it's statute barred. That's an automatic defence should they try a court claim, and they know it.0 -
Yes, i could of lied to get the loans but surely i would recall the details of at least one of the loans you would think! I lived in a bedsit which was shared with at least 6 other people at various times with 1 mailbox so anyone of them could of fraudulenty claimed these loans on my behalf or it simply could be a mistake (it does happen!) and that being said, the dwp should hold some kinds of copies of the applications I made for these loans. I am not, as other people have suggested trying to wiggle my way out of paying them but i dont see why i should pay £368 for loans i may not of taken out over 15 years ago
Were you living with a partner, by any chance?
If you were the loans could have been mistakenly registered against your NI number but have been applied for by someone else.
Hate to say this but in my experience 100% of people lie to some extent in applications for Crisis or Budgetting Loans0 -

hiya, no i was not living with anyone, it was just a bedsit in a shared house. Im not saying i did not take out the loans, i may well have but ive got a pretty good memory and this just does not ring any bells at all! If they provide me with proof i will pay up! but until they do im gonna take peoples advice and stand my ground0 -
They will tell you that as they want the money in full. I still do not understand why you are contemplating paying up if you are sure you have never had these loans?.
Has she said she hasn't had the loans? I can only see where she has said she cannot remember.loose does not rhyme with choose but lose does and is the word you meant to write.0 -
I had one of these letters the other month. It was for a loan of £15 from 5 years ago which I clearly remember getting, but I got a job not long after so wasnt sure if it had come out of my final payment or not. When I rang up to pay, the nice bloke I spoke to said that there were a lot of these coming out now, something to do with JCP computer systems or something. So they may well have a fair few of these being queried. However, I would stand your ground - definitely.*The RK and FF fan club* #Family*Don’t Be Bitter- Glitter!* #LotsOfLove ‘Darling you’re my blood, you have my heartbeat’ Dad 20.02.200

Thats a tough thing to talk about as thats like saying 100% of people in relationships lie to some extent to their partners everyday even if they dont know it.
Its true but doesnt mean its correct as such.
What I mean is that if I apply for a crisis loan you have to tell them somewhat a worse case scenario, when I got like £22 a week as I had a sanction and had to top up my rent by like £8 a week and pay at least £5 a week in electric(thats with heating never on) then had to buy food and toiletries and apply for jobs, I remember being turned down for a crisis loan as I said I had £3 left to last me 5 days and was told "just live off noodles and bread"
On the rare rare occasion I get one these days(got one last week as they forgot to send my payment) and before that was 18 months before I say stuff like I will be very streesed and curled up and afraid to even move as might run out of electric as I have like a pound left in meter and means I have to live off stale bread for days and water.
Thats all true and I really will be stressed if I have no cash but I could survive it but have permanent panic attacks till I get cash.
I got £20 to last me 6 days and have to pay first 2 payments back at around £8.60 then the remainder the 3rd week.
Not that great is it!0 -

I believe goverment debts are exempt from being statute barred.0 -

True, but she can't remember one of them let alone the others. That aside would you pay up on something you can't remember if some DCA sent you a letter saying you owed them money?. I wouldn't without them showing me proof and i definately would not if it was statue barred anyway.0
