I didn't notice any emphasis like that I have to say, to me it's the same as a dog owner keeping their dog on lead on public roads (apart from being a legal issue), I would say to them; "well done for being a responsible dog owner", it doesn't make them responsible in all fields of dog ownership of course, but they are being responsible in that particular case - same as here, it IS a responsible thing to do to get your dog neutered or speyed, whether or not you think there are risks to the op or your dog needs it done, dogs should be routinely done unless they are to be used for breeding or showing (which, as we all know, most pets aren't).
The biggest issue is getting people out of humanising their pets, usually men thinking their boy won't be a proper dog unless he's got his end away before being snipped, vets still won't spey a bitch unless she's had a season even though there is quite a lot of evidence to suggest it is safer to be done at 8 weeks old.

This is probably a discussion for another thread but suffice to say that I disagree with just about everything you have written here!
Always try to be at least half the person your dog thinks you are!

We've obviously had different experiences with dogs then as everything I've witnessed and discovered pushed me towards those facts.
