Can you claim a PPI on a mortgage

I took mortgage around 2001. I am not sure about exact name.
But it is either call SUN BANK OR THE MORTGAGE WORKS
Sold via brokers. So, neither lender is liable for a PPI complaint.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. Sun Bank was actually part of the Sun Life of Canada group
However, whilst Sun Life of Canada only sold endowments via its own reps, it was never authorised to sell general insurance (including PPI). Consequently, although Sun Life of Canada would have been responsible for any endowment sale, it will not have been liable for any PPI.
In addition, it closed to new business in, as I recall, late 2000.0 -
