Can you claim a PPI on a mortgage
Comments
-
No offence but my husband did loose his job and we never used this PPI.!
This PPi was sold to us WITH our mortage by our mortgage broker and we understood it to be compulsory0 -
I should add that only when i started reading on here about PPI did i realise that "paymentshield" was not some insurance my husband had but in fact PPI....... if i knew what it was i would have used it when he lost his job!
And..... I am not moaning - was merely asking advice!0 -

Then it is "some insurance". The "I" in "PPI" stands for "Insurance"if i knew what it was i would have used it when he lost his job!
That you did not think to claim will not be a reason for your complaint to be upheld, I'm afraid and the fact that you could have claimed (even if you did not) indicates that it was suitable.0 -
Then the firm who sold it is not responsible if you didnt make a claim when you could of.
I do think that you have lost focus here - I am not blaming the company for not making a claim against them - in fact that was for your information and my problem.
I asked for advice and not to be judged nor patronised0 -
I am actually shocked - I have used this site a lot and have found people to be very helpful to those who are not well aware of the ins and outs of things..... right now i feel like i have wasted my time asking for advice because all i have got is digression from my question which was "is MPPI compulsory or not"0

It has been established that it was not compulsory and the policy is seperate to your mortgage.
What else do you want to know?0 -

we dont know you, you need to give us information, you said that you didnt claim, which this comment was responded to and was just pointed out this is unrelated to the sale of the PPI.0 -

The bottom line is, do you have any evidence to support your accusation that you were told it was compulsary? if yes, then you have good grounds for complaint. If no, then it is an easy rejection for the broker on your complaint (paymentsheild have no liability).
The fact you didnt claim when you could have is not grounds for complaint.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -

Quick question having read all this.
I thought the salesperson was responsible for ensuring that the terms of any PPI is understood when selling it.
So wouldn't the fact she didn't claim for redunancy suggest the terms of the policy weren't made clear?
