  • Aww, sorry you are feeling down :( hey at the end of the day your debt is lower that what it was at the start of the month and that can only be a good thing!! Don't beat your self up over the fact that you didn't make the £1000, instead focus on what you did do and its a very good start.

Chin up, you've got a lovely brand new baby on the way, everything else will fall into place

Now where's that diary I started.........

    Thank you :)

I definitely need to build in a budget for unexpected expense to stop the problems from this month being a problem in future - I guess that's why some people like to have some savings even whilst they're trying to get debt free. You can budget to the extreme, but something unexpected will always happen when you least expect it. Right now I need to focus on this baby and getting through the next few weeks - everything else will fall into place, as you say xxx

  • I think its a good idea to build something into your budget for unexpected expenses, and lower your debt repayment expectations, to say £900. If nothing unexpected crops up you can then pay that additional £100 to your debts which will give you a boost. If something does crop up, no matter its in your budget. I think if you do budget to extreme and not manage to do the £1000 you plan, it can leave you feeling a bit dejected.

Think I may do this, each month transfer £100 over to a savings account and only use it on debts once I am sure, theres not a need for it anyway else.

    Hello diary

I got 3 extra separate tax credit payments today which has thrown me a bit with my banking, as I've had no paperwork through yet to explain whether it is extra payments triggered by renewal plus the underpayment from last year. I daren't allocate the money to anything until I know what it is for, and what my normal payments will be from now on, so I'm waiting on the postman bringing me the paperwork.

We've had a letter through from Halifax about the CC interest rate changes - going up from 15.42% to 15.45% in August, then in December they are adding the base rate of interest to that too - which will have more impact if the balance isn't reduced by then - as I'm sure the base rate will rise before December :o

Roll on payday .... can't wait to start the next month on my spreadsheet :rotfl:

Looking at the amounts, there is the equivalent of 1 week's normal CTC (a few pence higher), the equivalent of my 4 weekly WTC (again, a few pence higher), but also another payment of WTC as well (about £60 higher than my usual 4 weekly payment) but I got my normal CTC and 4 weekly WTC on Tuesday as well which is my usual payment date .... so if they have made some of these as 'adjustment' payments triggered by the renewal process, my normal amounts for the rest of the year will come down (which will annoy me slightly as I have my payments on my budget for the rest of the year which would all need adjusting). If one of the payments is the underpayment from last year, it is much higher than I anticipated.

Not yet, but our postman never comes until about 1pm. I also got paid today which I wasn't expecting until Tuesday, and it's more than I expected too. They messed up last month and had that to put right, but I still feel like I've got more than I was expecting to see - so I need my payslip through too before I can see whether I've been paid correctly or not.

I was at the hospital this morning and it was a really good appointment. I feel a bit more relaxed now about the pending birth.

All in all, not a bad day :D

You are doing well this week, if it's all yours to keep anyway lol!

Glad you had a good appointment this morning and are feeling nice and relaxed about it x

Well Mr Postman hasn't brought any tax credit info, but my payslip has arrived so that is something! I've got my expected salary, plus backpay from last month, plus some SMP as I have now 'left' on maternity leave instead of being on sick leave :j So at least what I have been paid is all mine to keep :D

Just need my tax credit award now so I know what they have done and what my ongoing payments will be so I can adjust where I need to.

Yes, feeling much better about things after this morning, although I'm not out of the woods yet with my complication - have to wait on some blood results in 2 weeks to see whether I have to have early delivery or wait until it starts naturally. I'll be full term in 2 weeks so it's less of a concern than if I had needed to deliver now. It was so lovely seeing my little man on the screen this morning at the growth scan, and we got concrete confirmation he is a boy ... and very proud he was to show us the evidence too :D:rotfl:
