I stayed away from the shops yesterday but got a few bits when I picked up the sunday paper today from the local co$tcutter. I bought quite a few of their offers. I have to say that their prices compare very well with Mr T and Sain4bury. For example although a pack of four jackets cost me 0.99 - they are big jackets :j usually these retail at 0.70 pence in Sain4bury but are much smaller. 6 free range eggs were £1.19 and a large pack of choc biscuits on offer at £1.00 plus half price bird$ eye chicken pieces at 1.19 each - no doubt Mr T can do a better price on this if they have it on offer also but in the few pence extra I have spent in the local shop, I have saved quids in all the unnecessary items I would have bought if i had had home delivery. I cooked a butternut squash curry yesterday, leftovers for lunch today and two meals for the freezer and I'm also doing a beef curry today - more for the freezer if i can find room! and tea tonight!!
Happy Sunday all :j0 -
hello everyone
I'd like to join this challenge, though obviously a bit late for this month!
Do you think 250 per month is too much/too little for two adults? to include cleaning products as well as 55 quid for cigarettes ( I know! :-S )
I only have 16 pounds left for this month....argh!
looking forward to next month0 -
Good Afternoon!
I hope you're all doing well and *hugs* to Hippiechick.
I've had a little spendy week, i nipped to A8da, spent £21.-- on friday after work, but that was on a load of fresh salad things, tinned toms, beans, cupboard stocking. Then yesterday i spent £2.49 between mr M and Lid!. on peppers and mushrooms.
Yesterday i had a big batch cooking session, made; Veggie Chilli, Sausage and Chorizo casserole, Shepherds pie and Chicken and pepper in black bean sauce. Have 19meals in the freezer, so ready for late nights!
Going to aim for a no spend week as i have milk and bread making things, crackers, salad, and all the main meals in the freezer, meal plan for this week:
Sun - Roast with Parents (i supplied the pork out of my freezer from Mr S's half price offer)
Mon - Veggie Chilli, Rice and Garlic Naan Bread
Tue - Sausage and chorizo casserole with extra veg
Wed - Roasted veg puff pastry tart and salad
Thur - Chicken and Cauli Curry
Fri - Veggie pasta bake
Sat - Shepherds pie.
I am trying to alternate a meaty meal with a veggie meal every other day. I have gained a little weight since the docs sorted my tum out, so want to lose the wobble i have gained, so cutting down on portion sizes, snacking on fruit and celery and rice cakes (gave dad all my baddies) and eating 3 meals a day instead of 2 larger ones.
Have a good week all!
xxEach day is a new beginning, look at what you have an be grateful for every tiny thing. You don't know when it may be taken away.0 -

lovely but even on offer very expensive for me. I normally have a jar or two (b1g1f) in, but i do get cheaper value for cooking with. For us, it's not just food and cleaning stuff - we have 3 cats so litter and cat food is a biggie for us every week...
welcome - I'm new too...
i have part shares in a cat (it lives at my oh's to make sure i have to go see him) and she's a fussy so and so. can't stand cheap low protien food so no wiskers, iams, tesco's own.
dry with the odd tin of feline fayre or pate's
so to not break the bank we get 15kg sacks of well beloved or science plat (one of each atm) we then divide it into 12 bags and vac pack it. 1 £70 sack lasts AT LEAST 12 months and the last bag is still nice and fresh. we sometimes try out a new food by getting a breeder bag *that is to say a 7.5kg bag* as they tend to work out quite cheap but the quality can vary.
as I said, atm we have two bags and we alternate between so she doesn't get bored.
as for littler, we bought a huge block of sawdust (4 foot square) from countrywide and we use this 50/50 with fullers earth and find it works out very cheap and it's absorbant and the sawdust helps absorb smells. she does need a rug down near the litter to 'wipe her feet' on but i find that with most litters.
she only tends to use it in winter anyway. One of the hardest of all life lessons is this:
Just because I feel bad doesn’t necessarily mean someone else is doing something wrong.
Just because I feel good doesn’t necessarily mean what I am doing is right.0 -
Hippeechiq hope you are doing ok hon x
with my growbags . i have chopped out 3 holes to plant my toms in but before i planted them in stuck my trowel in and loosened the soil then just bung in your water crystals and give it a mix and plant as normal
had a chicken casserole for lunch which was lovely with parsnip potato and parmesan mash , plenty left for sarnis tomorrow
made a rhubarb crumble for dh , ive never made one before as i hate cooked fruit in any way but i thought i would treat him , ( got some 9p custard to cover it up if needs be)

Hi everyone,
Not doing too bad on the NSD's this week, thats probably down to the fact I spent much of the week wondering whether I should use an £8 off £40 spend at sainsbugs, or go to Mr. Ms for their offers and wasn't sure if the 6p off fuel was still on. So in the end I went to sainsbugs, but was really good and did only just spend over the £40 to get £8 off, I usually go way over, but i kept a count all the way round. I also went to the local farm shop yesterday, and stocked up on meat, that will probably last us 6 weeks or so. All in all not too bad so far, I won't need anything else this week.
Have a good week everyone x2025 G/C Jan £264.82, Feb £249.68. Mar £372.66. Apr. £326.19. May £321.01. June £296.18 July £338.61 Nectar - Morrison’s - £ £ Boots - £3.63 Asda Rewards - £ Tesco - £0 -
