Credit Check Trouble!

I was afraid you’d say that, ha ha. The only worry with me getting it in dad’s name & my bank account, is that if ever there isn’t enough money in my bank to cover the cost, it would affect his credit score.
If you can't guarantee having the money to pay the DD in your account, then I wouldn't even be considering a contract.Does having an overdraft on my account build up credit, or do I actually have to go into my overdraft & then pay it back?
An unused overdraft facility would help to a degree, but using the credit would be better.
3 Mobile will be able to offer you a contract instore if you can provide a deposit, I'd strongly reccomend this approach if you are insistant on getting a high-end handset. Otherwise, if you just need any smartphone I'd get a San Francisco and a 30 day sim only contract.0 -

If you are sure that you really can manage such contract do it on your dad's name and his account, then set a standing order on your account for regular transfers to your dad's account and make sure that these SOs never fail.
If you are not sure, you are not ready for a 'decent' contract yet.0 -
I meant like, if my wage doesn’t get paid in on time (this happened once, the finance manager was off sick & the personnel manager had to do the wages, and she did them wrong).
I have no qualms paying a deposit on the handset if they’ll let me, I might even try and cadge a work phone from my line manager, if I can present him with a good enough reason J
Thank you,

Hi RyanArena,
I understand how frustrating it can be to be refused credit for having no previous credit history.
As you suggested in your post, it is possible for your dad to take out a contract in his name for you. The credit check would be carried out using all of his details including his bank details and then once it is set up, the monthly direct debit can be arranged to come out of your bank account.
If at a later date you wanted to take over the contract and have it under your name, we can do a transfer of ownership after three months of having the contract but you will then be credit checked again so you would need to be accepted first.
If you need any more info or help, you can contact me directly here with WRT135 (FAO Heidi) in the subject and I will be more than happy to go through this in more detail.
I hope this helped shed some more light on your options.
Many thanks,
Heidi
