oooh i really like the quorn roast and im not veggie!
Certainly much better than the meat alternatives ( bernard mathews turkey roll  gross) Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
It sounds disgusting. I like the sound of what Caterina has, which is like what my veggie mum had 'all the trimmings' minus the turkey. How processed and packaged is a TOFURKY???Member no.1 of the 'I'm not in a clique' group :rotfl:

I happen to like "disgusting" Tofurkey, as well as Redwoods "revolting" Cheatin Roast Turkey.
If you want to talk TRULY disgusting, then how about haggis (chopped up animal innards stuffed into a stomach or rectum), blood pudding or sausages made from pig snouts and cow noses.
I personally applaud anyone who has taken the vegetarian or vegan path, whether they are eating chickpeas and kale (both of which I love) or Tofurkey and vegetarian sausages (which I also love). Neither diet involves slaughtering animals, which to me is the point of being veg*n. I do realise others do it for different reasons, including some who hate the taste/texture of meat. To each his/her own!
(Then again, I'm only a Level 1 Vegan.)

I was a total vegan once, for several years.
i was only making the point that tofurky must be over-processed, and processed food is bad whether vegan or not.
What do you mean level 1 Vegan? I am intrigued...
i am partial to a bit of Haggis, which is also not wasteful and largely made of grains. Better to eat the offal than throw it away!Member no.1 of the 'I'm not in a clique' group :rotfl:

It's a reference to a Simpsons episode where someone refers to himself as a Level 5 Vegan... "A vegan who won't eat anything that casts a shadow."
I always thought that was pretty funny
So I guess I was just saying that although I'm vegan, I still eat [vegan] doughnuts and [vegan] crisps and [vegan] processed food, sometimes.
I agree though that the less processed food is, the better it is for you. But I'd also have to say that sausages and haggis seem pretty processed to me!

It's the name 'Tofurky'.
Not being vegan or 'whatever', but what is it with vegetarian stuff made to taste like meat?
What's all that about?
Tofurky :rotfl:more dollar$ than sense0 -
It doesn't, is the simple answer.
Quorn is made from mycoprotein, similar to mushrooms. Probably about as similar to mushrooms as Bernard Mathews is to real turkey!
Personally, I adore a good homemade nut roast.0 -

I can certainly PM you the one I use if you'd like it, but it's vegetarian, not vegan. Although you might be able to use vegan cheese. It also has an egg to bind it, I don't know if there's an alternative?0

Many vegetarians grew up eating meat, but for ethical / health / religious reasons etc decide to become vegetarian. It's not the taste or texture of meat that is objectionable to them, it's the fact that it is a dead animal. I have no objection to eating a vegan product which emulates meat, as long as it actually doesn't contain meat.
Some meat products don't taste like meat either... sausages for example taste of the spice mixture that's in them, not like pig or cow. And "fish" don't taste like "fish"... they taste like the sea or like seaweed!
