You obviously know nothing about the diesel emissions test in the MOT. The engine is revved up hard to pretty much the rev limiter and held there for a set period of time.
What part of "I stand to be corrected" don't you understand. There are less obnoxious ways of adding to a post than saying that someone knows "nothing" but that would never occour to you.

I admit I have little aquaintance with motor car engine diesels, big statics yes, but my local mot station does not rev the nuts off diesels which is all I was going by, and why I asked for the correction if I was wrong.

What is the actual test as per the mot handbook?
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

    I wouldn't worry, Hammy's wrong anyway.

It isn't "revved hard", it is actually revved up to the limiter, but not held there for any period of time.

there is no faulty tensioner the car was fully checked by kia and the result where the car was red lined. the same belt was put back on as there were no faults with the belt however the 4 injectors and the wire loom that goes on to them were burnt out at a cost to myself £1200

These are existing faults, not caused by the MOT test.

What worries me is, why they reinstalled the old belt, I would be very concerned about that.
The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark

I didn't notice that bit but what sort of garage would risk putting back on even a slightly used belt?, it's against all standard procedure and guidelines and is really "spoiling the ship for a haporth of tar" so to speak.
Worth the price of a new belt just for peace of mind alone especially considering the price tag of £1200 :eek: ouch ouch.

    True.
If the belt jumped, one of the teeth somewhere must be rounded off. I'd have had a new kit, unless the belt was a few hundred miles old, then I'd be querying the fitting.

Sounds to me like your fault is the wiring and injectors and whoever said the timing had slipped was talking rubbish.

This was my first thought too.

I'm aware of someone else (Hamilton area) having one with around 36k on the clock, major fault occurred (sure it wouldnt start)and was told a new engine was required.
Believe they were able to get it patched up long enough to get shot.
A friend of a friend so not sure of the detail.

What is the name of this garage? They need reporting for not doing the MOT correctly.

Thanks Hammy, but just maybe they can recognise when a punter brings in a genuine car?? ie, Not a smoker that needs thrashing to within a nano thing of it's life to prove it's a goodun????????????????

The garage is Stubbs Motor Engineers. What do you want to do about it????????????????
