needing a landline to get broadband

hope to get a bit of advice!
i have a telephone line in my flat and was originally with BT when i moved in a few years ago. when i moved in the line was already physically there but BT gave me a new phone number.
currently i am getting line rental from primus but have told them i don't want to renew my contract which runs out in a month.
i get my broadband from 02, which i am really happy with.
my question is - can i continue to access my broadband as normal if i do not sign up with a new provider for line rental?
i dont use my landline at all so would rather just stop using it altogether and not have to pay line rental at all. do you just need the physical presence of a line to continue to receive broadband services or do you have to have an 'active' phone line which you are paying a rental for?
thanks

You wouldn't need a phoneline for Virgin Cable Broadband either.0

Why pants?
You need a working landline in order to receive an ADSL signal for your broadband, someone has to provide and maintain that network. No free lunch, and no free laptop
