haha god bless RACO, sums up Argos completly, works fantastic in big stores, small shops its a nightmare, pretty much the same for every Argos policy ever invented!0

My store is a big store (77 A-Z aisles) but our stock threshold is so high that RACO is just as bad as numerical binning. Extra stocked in as well which confuses loads of our rather 'simple' xmas temps who cant differentiate between AE kettles and regular kettles!0

-Elizabeth Duke (the bling bling dept!) - serving customers, counting stock, doing deliveries etc
- the collection points - handing out the items to the customer
- the tills
- the stockroom - picking the items, putting away deliveries, counting stock
- customer services
- cash office and admin office
- salesfloor (doing displays, looking after quick pay etc)
- Furniture (currently in our store, not sure how many other stores they will be rolling it out to.
Permanent staff are expected to be fully trained on every department and can be on a different department every day. Temps can be trained throughout the store as well but the later they are employed, the less they will be trained and tend to end up in the stockroom or on collection.
Not bad really is it 38 jobs and minimum wage in the hand on a Friday !
I saw the light just finished with Argos a few weeks ago i wasnt prepared to be exploited by this multi national company .....0 -
I previously worked for Argos as a stock manager - I don't miss the standard 50 hour weeks (8am - 6pm everyday and not by choice!!!) and working 1 sunday in four on top of that too!!!
The final straw for me came when Argos HQ had the bright idea to start the rebinning process in the middle of the busiest period of the year. I don't miss green penning the RO stock, peeling off stickers, moving shelves, carrying around pocketfuls of boltclips.
Therefore in my experience I would not recommend Argos for managerial opportunities, as you are expected to work excessive hours and travel quite a distance from your hometown for a decent promotion.
For casual staff it's pretty easy going for the pay especially picking makes the day go quite quickly.0 -
just started temping with addeco at argos warehouse in essex.
sun till thurs 10 pm/6 am. 6.05 an hour plus 10.00 a shift(for working nights).
i go round the warehouse and pick goods into a cage.
its fine for a temp job and you are shown what to do and left on your own to do it.
you have to work at a decent speed but fine.
anyone in the essex, basildon area ,i think they are still looking for lots of staff for xmas.0 -
