Thanks Aesop, your continued support means a lot you know ;)

It was a quickie post this morning, I couldn't type much as I had DS climbing all over me at the time.

We have had a lovely day in the sunshine. We enjoyed a picnic over the park and they kids loved playing the swings. I bought a few reduced bits in the supermarket (spent a little over £3) and we made up everything else from what we had in the house already. On a day like today we could easily have tried to over complicate things but we would have ended up enjoying ourselves less I bet. Sometimes less really is more.

I have had two offers of free firewood on feecycle, which is fab. Our stove is currently out of operation (not that we'd be using it in this hot weather!) as the glass is cracked and I'm waiting for pay day before I get a replacement pane. I really want to try and stock up as much as possible, as I think we were both a bit shocked at how much wood we used this winter. We even had to buy a few bags of logs in B&Q, which we both really resented. We also need to get a system going in the garage to store it in an easily accessible way. This will mean tidying the garage - this will be a MAMMOTH job.

  • Money to do list this week:
    • Send off claim to HMRC for £170(ish) tax rebate - ASAP
    • ATS to invoice £200 for some freelance work - ASAP
    • Money jiggerypokery on pay day - Thursday
    • Do my expenses for work - ASAP
    • Rock job interview and get offered new job - Wednesday
Still not done anything off the to do list yet, it's only Monday but I should still try and get a head start on the week really.

I'm tempted to add some more items to ebay, slowly getting back in the swing of it. The light is perfect for photos today and I have dug out some clothes to sell. One of the items ATS added last week is up to £2.81 with 2 days to go. The other item has watchers but no bids yet.

Preparation for my job interview is going slowly, so little time at the moment. I also didn't submit an application that was due in this morning for pretty much the same reason and I'm really disappointed about it. There is nothing else out there at the moment worth me applying for, which is demoralising. But ATS is working on an application due in on Friday, so fingers crossed for him.

Get yourself out in the sunshine if you have any PBS and then come back and try and tackle some of your list. Sunshine always make people feel better.

I need to go and tackle my back garden. did the front yesterday but it is only small, so that was easy to do, back is big and full of carp.

LL got a landscape gardener in, which was fine, but they had no kids, and his wife did all the gardening. I don't have that luxury, and with a kid, need to keep everything well trimmed back!
  • Hi Aesop,

Good luck with the garden. At least the sun makes it a more pleasant task, I guess? It si a useful place to 'park' a child I find, even though ours isn't a bit safe and totally unusable at the moment. Did you get you CTF sorted?

Despite the sun I am in a foul mood today. Nothing is going right and everything seems to going backwards not forwards. And I found out aboput the stamp cost rises and I can't believe how much they are going up! I'm going to try and stock up a bit, but in the longer term I think Royal Mail are making a big mistake. Posting something will become a luxury, instead of normal behaviour. Probably kill off loads of ebay trade too :(

Still not done my to do list yet, seriously lacking in motivation... :(

  • Okay, so big day today. Job interview at 3pm. A little bit more prep to do but not much, almost ready. Need to get my game face on.

Strangely not feelin desperate about being offered the job, as I have done about jobs in the past. I think its two fold. 1. The presentation prep has actually put me off the role a little bit and 2. There's another job that's I'm applying for next week, so this is not 'last chance saloon'. That's not to say I won't be delighted if they offer me the job, but just (depending on what I find out today) I might not bite their hand off in accepting.

In other news, the second item ATS listed on eBay has an opening 99p bid and has 15 watchers. Still 3 hours to go and I'm confident it'll get more bids before it closes. We won't be able to pay off the mortgage, but every little helps... ;)

I actually have a mountain of work to do before I leave for the interview, so I shouldn't be posting in the diary - but it helps my calm and make me feel in control.

Well ATS second item (baby monitor) went for £17 in the end, so well chuffed with that.

Interview went okay, I am rubbish at judging. I'll know Friday at the earliest either way.

  • Got paid and did the money hokey cokey. But it was a bit of an anti-climax, especially as I have been waiting for weeks! £250 to joint account and £200 to savings. The End. Have to wait til next week to do the rest as ATS got locked out of his internet banking last night, so we can't touch his money until the bank send through a new access code

I'm a bit bleurgh today. Not about anything in particular, just because I am prone to bleurghness I guess. Still no idea if I was amazing or rubbish in the interview, is everyone like this or is it just me? Need to work on the next application, to keep up positive energy and momentum.

So made a bit of progress, but missed the deadline for expenses and will have to wait for next month now :(

Heard back from the Pension Advisory Service, and they think I might have a case about the unpaid pensions contributions but I need to provide more paperwork first... I'm going to think it over, it might be bad karma to poke the hornets nest, but by the same token it's money I can ill afford to just let slip away if there is any chance of getting it back... I feel bad because they are a charity, not a big company, and they are always strapped for cash. I'll have to ponder some more.

  • I know I'm over doing it a bit with the posts latesly, I think its a symptom of how anxious I feel at the moment.

I was talking to ATS about it earlier. Basically the next six weeks or so are the most important we had for years and at the end of them we'll either be in amazing financial shape or terrible financial shape.

Best possible case scenario for us, if every single poker we have in the fire comes good, is that we have an income of about £6,300 a month.

Equally possible, is that everything goes wrong and we are left with an income of just £700 a month.

The actual outcome could be anywhere in between those two figures and the stressful thing is that there is simply no way of knowing at all. I just have to plod on, do what I can and don't get stressed or fixated on it (yeah right:rotfl:)

At least tomorrow might bring news about the first job interview. One less thing to have to think about...
