  • I should be posting triumphantly tonight; banked £206 from Hatton Market Metals and had good day on ebay too, making two days worth of target income in one day. But.... Am feeling very demoralised and deflated. Yesterday I decided to do something radical and try and get some freelance work doing the equivalent of my day job. An organisation had put 53 months worth of work out to tender; I priced it all up got some advice on how to do the tender; started working on the tender document itself, register with Companies House and got website domain name sorted, did quick (hour) branding exercise... The only thing was I needed to get the thing in the post at 5 and I just couldn't finish the damn thing to a standard decent enough to submit in the time. So not only has all that time been wasted by so much of my energy and enthusiasm has drained away too. I realise that something else will come along, but it's knocked my fragile confidence and let me questioning myself and my abilities. I have to work in the morning, so no more from me tonight. Hopefully feel better tomorrow.

PBS - you have done fab!

As for the tender - does it have to be in tomorrow? Why not courier it over to them? You should be able to find a courier company that can collect and deliver same day. I know our local taxi firms double as couriers for same day delivery. Obviously not large items, but will happily take an envelope from our old office, was made redundant 3 years ago, and to wherever we want it to go.

Hope you can, and good luck with it.

or if it needs to be there monday, get courier tomorrow for delivery monday.

I was thinking about being a virtual secretary and looked into it, but I don't have space to store stuff. It would literally have to all be online or given back same day. But all the contract stuff, etc, i would need to store it somewhere.

I can't have a diary on here, personal reasons and for that reason cannot same too much about my situation. I have probably shared more with you both than with anyone else.

I am plodding on, reading lots of threads, getting ready for winter (been lining my curtains with fleeces tonight)- really hope not to have huge fuel bills over winter. :rotfl:

Out of interest how do you actually do this. I have thought about it several times, and for the life of me can't figure it out?

PBS and allthatstuff. It is so lovely to see you being supportive of each other now. Sadly sometimes marriages never attain that depth of understanding. My OH too did not in the least understand my PND, What was more galling was that he never even TRIED to either....So that was and is very hard to deal with. I did and do feel really let down about it

Nice one on getting a decent lump of money to your stove target that is awesome.

The Preparing For Winter thread inspired me to get started. I decided to shorten my curtains so I would tuck them behind the readiatior, allowing full heat in room. After cutting I bought cheap fleeces (ikea, asda, tescos) and tacked them between the curtain and the lining, it was a bit of a pain but hope it will be worth it in the winter.

The above thread has great ideas (its never too early to start). Plus you get good tips on where to buy cheap de-icer etc. People on that thread use safety pins to add fleeces behind their curtains- everyone raves avout how much warmer it is.

Good luck! Sorry All that stuff- hopefully we will get a summer!!! :)

PBS- I am mega impressed at your profits- thats fab. You'll be nice and warm this winter with your stove, it'll be so worth it.

You sound a very clever girl- I wouldnt know where to start with Companies House etc, sorry it hasnt worked out this time but with your organisational abilities I'm sure you'll be getting a tender soon.

I am really enjoying following you diary- thank you :T
  • Aesop and Chev - please don't think our situation is all rosey from what you read here! What PBS was gracious enough not to mention was that the main reason that she didn't get her tender done is because I spent the day beng a miserable grumpy unsupportive whinging git (I would use a stronger word there but I think the forum would edit it out). Not intentionally, just a couple of night shifts with DS and busy days put me in a bad mood and I handled it all very badly. Where I think we have done well here though is our abillity to talk it over, set things right for the future and move on. Like I said - it's all about making sure you are looking in the right direction. And, as I said, we've been together coming up five years and this diary only represents the last few months. We would never have been able to write a shared diary like this a few years ago as it would have just been mostly us b!tching about each other followed by lots of real world arguing. It would have ended very quickly.

Anyway, we've had a nice day. I would say only moderately productive, but very enjoyable. PBS had work meetings this morning so I took DD to gym class on the bus with DS in the sling. I was once again thoroughly miffed by the £1.60 fare to go about two miles. So on the way back we took the slightly longer walk at each end and took the train instead. This is cheaper normally, but today was one of those occassions where it was a lot cheaper, as being only 2 minutes between our stops the conductor didn't have time to get round to take our fare :) DD loves the train and was particularly chuffed when she waved goodbye to the train and the driver waved back.

We also popped to the "big city" to buy some materials for PBS's sewing projects. They are going very well and on that basis I think I shall suggest she look at putting fleece on the curtains for the winter - want to keep as much of our lovely stove heat in the house as possible :)

Ebay sales going well. lots of tat selling well. This weeks "really? that sold?" award goes to a stone paperweight with PBS' name painted on it - gone for 99p after several relists while the "that's an absurd amount of money" prize goes to the old glastonbury programme that sold for a tenner. Its ridiculous that someone would pay that for it, but that is their problem - not ours. They are just getting uus ten pounds closer to actually being able to do something with the enormous stockpile of firewood in the garage. If this weekends sales go well (and they look like they should) I reckon we could be halfway towards the installation target by monday :)

can PBS courier it over? or was it too late?
  • Ooops... sorry PBS......looks like I've made work for you....... but keeping all that lovely stove heat in will be great.......the winter thread has lots of tips for the fleece linings......you dont have to sew them, you can pin them in place.
  • Quick post on my phone. I'm sat in my parents lounge waiting for PBS and DS to wake up. She went to bed in a mard with me so I'm leaving her bed to hope she sleeps it off. We live about 150mi from the rest of my family and came up for a do last night. The travelling cost is annoying and tbh I think we're going to cut down on the visits. I like seeing my siblings and their kids from time to time but my mum has been even more of a miserable cow than usual and it isn't good for PBS's health.

Anyway, a good day on eBay yesterday. Took about £189. Another good chunk towards the stove. Because we've been away though we haven't done any wrapping or listings, so Monday may have to be a bit of am eBay day. I'm sure we will run out of stuff we don't need or want one day but there doesn't seem to be any less.

Our telly broke a couple of weeks ago. We've still been able to watch the odd show online using the iPlayer but we really haven't missed it. We were due to pick up a spare one off my parents but we've decided not to. I wasn't sure at first but I've really come round to the idea. I'm excited about having a more flexible main living space. No longer will we have to mould the whole room around pointing chairs at the screen. I'm hoping we can speed some of our journey home talking about this - assuming PBS has ceased being annoyed with me.
  • Hi both, hope you are now back to your home- nothing like it is it? Another £189- cant believe you have so much stuff to sell- I would have to sell DH- then they'd want their money back.
Our e-bay sales ended yesterday- thats £25 off the debt. Going to hunt around for some more things to sell........
