Am thinking of getting my sister Alison, a cordless iron for her birthday present,

a) How does a cordness iron work?
b) Does a cordless iron work like a remote control (Infra red)?

c) do you have to plug it in, with an Infra red signal going from the plug to the iron?

d) Do you have a cordness iron?
e) what are the advantages of them?
f) any disadvantages of them?

Would you recommend one (show me the link from the argos categloge online), one that you have?

Assuming that this is a serious question... Think of a cordless iron rather like a cordless kettle. No infrared.

Alternatively, try the following link and choose among the answers: http://lmgtfy.com/?q=How+does+a+cordless+iron+work

I don't do iAnythings , but you can get a cordless iron as previous poster suggested, but to get a cordless steam iron make sure you have a lot of spit

I had a cordless iron many years ago. They're completely useless, don't waste your money.

    Why are they useless?

    what was the issue?/disadvantage?
  • sounds like cordless irons aren't the best, but you'd probably get more appropriate answers in old style moneysaving.

If an iron cools then it doesn't iron properly better a corded one.

It will prove far too expensive to buy but get a steam generator iron, I am a man and ours is fantastic( I have ironed a lot the last 2 weeks ...summer clothes out, winter away) and OH say's it's much lighter to use, I like the fact it has 4.5 bar pressure.

Of course you would be better getting a corded than a cordless, if she wants to iron a lot, you need steam and the steam generation process causes the hot plate to cool faster therefore it needs to be put into it's receptacle(power node...?) all the time.

I've only had cordless irons for the last 20 years, could never get used to having a cord in the way. You just put it on the charging station in between shirts/sleeves etc, just as you'd put down any other iron. Works just like any other iron - thermostat kicks in, goes out, has the facility to use as corded which I've probably done on a handful of occasions. Steam functions just like any other iron. One drawback is that they don't bounce on hard surfaces (just like any other iron...)

Can't give a link because I've had it for years, but it's a tefal ultraglide.
