Hiya
I got my OH a T Mobile Vibe E200 the other week and got it unlocked so he could use his old O2 sim in it. It works fab for calls, texting etc but when he tries to access the internet on it, (web & walk) it says 'failed to connect to the internet 100 java.io.IO Exception:resolving DNS fail' I'm guessing this is because it's part of the t mobile side of the phone, so how do we go about setting it up so he can use it with his O2 sim please? We have phoned O2 and asked them to send new settings but they don't have any for this phone and suggested calling in at a t mobile shop and see if they can do it but we are unable to get there till the weekend and wondered if anyone here would be able to help.
When he puts his t mobile sim in, he can get internet access but when he tries to download apps he hasn't found 1 yet that is compatible, any suggestions where we go from here?
Many thanks in advance

Hi Grumbler
The only site he said he could get on was the t mobile one and it happened with every app he tried. Sorry thats all the info he has given meWeebles wobble but they don't fall down! :j0 -
You can get generic internet settings from the Mobile Guide on the O2 website or from somewhere like filesaveas.com
These will need to be manually typed into the phone. Have a look through the phones menu system for options which look similar to the settings referred to above (eg APN, proxy etc )
If it's too technical then a local independent phone shop (the type that does unlocking) might be able to do it for you (for a fee).
As for applications, the spec for the Vibe states that it is Java MIDP2 compliant, which means that you can use any Java apps from sites like getjar or Zedge. (I doubt you'll see the Vibe listed but you can use the generic setting or select an handset with similar screen size)0 -
Found the following description of how to enter the generic settings. (slightly edited for clarity)
"Go to Connectivity on your phone menu then
onto Data account and gprs and create a new
one with the settings. Then go onto Internet
service and Settings then Profiles delete the t
mobile one and make the O2 one default"
I don't have any Vibe to test but the procedure looks ok.
One important point I have discovered. The web'n'walk browser in the phone will only ever work on T-Mobile. The suggestion is to download Opera Mini (go to m.opera.com on the phone) which is better and easier to use.0 -
Thank you Techhead, I will give that a go tomorrow when I'm wide awake.
I really appreciate your help, thanks again Maisie xxWeebles wobble but they don't fall down! :j0
