consider yourself lucky, we just had to pay £1030 for isurance :-( 27yr old 5yrs NCD and 25yr old as named driver no convictions, accidents or points :-(
Please tell me you're driving something exciting, Italian and in red!
In the 13 years I've owned a car I've never paid over £240(and that was this year)! Admittedly I don't drive the fastest of cars, my last and current was a 1.8 Mondeo and 2.0 Laguna, always fully comp, 2 named insured, but £1030_pale_ I suppose it's all relative, my first car back in '98 was a Maestro, insurance, 3rd party F&T, was around £140, wonder what that would equate to nowadays??

its no wonder so many people go about without insurance

This is the very reason car Insurance premiums keep rising - because some people don't bother to insure their vehicles, they have an accident, the innocent victim of which makes a claim but that money has to come from somewhere. Insurance companies don't grow money on trees!

If everybody insured their vehicles & there were less uninsured drivers & therefore less claims to the Motor Insurer's Bureau (they pay innocent victims claims), then premiums would start to come down.

It's quite simple - if you want a car then factor the cost of insurance into it. If you can't afford the insurance, you can't afford a car :)
