Buyer wants me to send to another address

Seller has paid today and sent me a message asking for item to be posted to another address.
I know there is a way that they can register an alternative address (and so provide me with protection) but can't remember how they do it. I did have another buyer who wanted to do this a year ago and her address was successfully amended.
Does anyone know what the seller has to do?
I'm not going to send to an unconfirmed address.
I would send it by recorded delivery if I were you, unless its a very fragile item.
First explain to your buyer about only posting to the paypal address as per paypal rules and give the buyer the choice of changing the address or accepting the delivery to his registered address.
If they insist they want it posting to a different address then refund the money and ask the buyer to change the addresss for delivery in ebay and paypal.

.
Why recorded, it gives no more insurance in case of loss in the post and in many areas does not ever show as delivered so is useless for a paypal dispute.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Yes, and the buyer's choice of feedback and stars. Going back to the first sensible reply on this thread, it is straightforward and 100% correct.......First of all, to be covered by Royla Mail for under £46, you only need to send with proof of postage. ....... Charge bACKS ARE RARE.0 -
What about I send to alternative address by recorded, buyer says not received. I have proof of sending and item shows "delivered". Surely paypal will side with buyer because I haven't sent to the confirmed address.
If I send ordinary non tracked post, what form of compensation would I get from Royal Mail? Is it cash?
Anyway with regard to opening point, my buyer happily changed her address. I refunded her, she repaid and I sent parcel to new address.0 -
Buyers who deliberately commit fraud, as in your first scenario, are also rare. It seems this buyer clearly was legit. Recorded is hit and miss as to whether it tracks. Compensation is given by cheque.0

Payments can be reversed or a sellers account put into a negative balance after an INR or fraudulent use of card claim, neither of which could be defended by any form of tracking or delivery receipt if the correct address was not used.
See this post about keeping yourself safe when using paypal:

Q6. Is your item worth more than £150?
You should send your item via Royal Mail Special Delivery, Parcelforce with tracking or Courier depending on the weight. Ensure you have adequate insurance for your item and ensure the service has an online tracking system WITH SIGNATURE on delivery. Obtain a COP.
WILL I BE COVERED IN THE EVENT OF INR?
Yes. Retain the COP for 180 days and add the tracking to the Paypal or Ebay transaction.
Thanks for your reply. As you say, payment can be reversed i.e. for INR or INAD. However, the former is easily sorted (see above) and if INAD they would have to return the item before getting their money so nobody loses.
In my example above, I'm pretty sure the seller would have checked my ebay feedback and saw that I have purchased many items, always pay quickly and have no negatives; so I'm a pretty safe bet. If however, the OP is selling to someone with no FB or a load of negatives, then maybe they would be justified in being cautious.Marching On Together

Read the protection policy again please. The protection only applies if sellers sends to the address that paypal say ' is OK to send to' so in your case if you had been a bad un the seller would NOT have been covered.
Q1. Are you sending to the address in the Paypal transaction and does the transaction say OK to send?
If NO to any of the above. You will not be covered for seller protection if your buyer files a complaint of ITEM NOT RECEIVED (INR) with Ebay or Paypal.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
