Buyer wants me to send to another address

This has happened to me before.
Seller has paid today and sent me a message asking for item to be posted to another address.
I know there is a way that they can register an alternative address (and so provide me with protection) but can't remember how they do it. I did have another buyer who wanted to do this a year ago and her address was successfully amended.
Does anyone know what the seller has to do?
I'm not going to send to an unconfirmed address.

Was it paypal?
Can you not refund the transaction, then the buyer can change the paypal address and pay again? One important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.0 -
You will need to refund their payment and then get them to add the new address as a gift address and re pay.
You are correct in requiring the correct address if you are sending tracked, but if it is a low cost item then most sellers probably wouldn't mind.

Don't tell me this is another five quid item. First of all, to be covered by Royla Mail for under £46, you only need to send with proof of postage. I've done this for loads of people, especially at Christmas when they are late gifts. Too many people get caught up in this rules nonsense. If they approach me the right way, I've also sent expensive items to a different address, properly insured and tracked. Charge bACKS ARE RARE.0

There you go. Under £46, it's irrelevant where you post it.0

Not as far as paypal are concerned! The buyer could open an INR dispute and as the seller doesn't have proof of the item being received at the registered paypal address they will lose the case and have to refund the £40.0

But as the item is covered by Royal Mail then they wont lose out. If the item isn't delivered it isn't delivered. No one can show it is or isn't delivered. Royal Mail compensation covers to £46.
There have been instances when using recorded delivery that an item shows as 'progressing through network' and nothing else. This would not win a dispute and with Royal Mails intranet the item could show as being delivered if the buyer is lying, so RM refuse the claim. A lose lose situation. I know which one I would rather have.0 -

The only time a seller needs a guaranteed signature is if the buyer is fraudulent. If an item gets lost in the post, and some things unfortunately do, then all RM need to repay the losses is proof of posting assuming item is covered and under £46 in value.
I don't believe the OP has even indicated whether this is going special delivery or not?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I will send to paypal address only simply to get it covered by paypal. You can refund the payment and ask buyers to change their registered address to the delivery address and pay for the item again and the new address should show up0

But your items are expensive, so you need Paypal protection. In this instance the item is only £40 so covered by Royal Mail, you don't need both as in the event of a claim only one needs to pay out.0
