Flying to San Diego and back from San Francisco?

Hi all,
Myself and the OH are planning a trip to the USA in June/July (whichever's cheapest!) but it's a bit more complicated than a simple return as we will both be flying different dates to San Diego and then we both want to return from San Francisco on the same date...
Basically my question is, does anyone know of a good website that can cater for this request without costing an arm and a leg, I've tried a few places and the best price I have is £1,300 total (just for flights)
Any help is appreciated! :j

That's total for both of us. My flights are coming up £600 (ish) but my bf's are coming up more due to the later date he will be flying.
I've just got a quote through 'Travel Up' that was quite competitive, but I dont know if it's a trustworthy site? I spoke to a foreign customer service rep on the phone, it was quite hard to understand him which leaves me worried...

Flights to the west coast seem to be much higher this year, £600 plus seems a reasonable offer. BA will be flying to both cities from June so worth checking their own website as well as United Airlines website and someone like Major Travel who are big United Airlines agents in the UK and sometimes have fares below those offered direct by the airlines0
