Laughable British Gas....

Options
booked an appointment to have the meter changed to the pay as you go as we get massive bills and want to watch what we spend, the appt was booked for today between 8 and 1 and the bloke has just turned up only to tell me that he doesnt have a meter on his van, he said " i used the last one on friday " - errrm, why bother turning up to mine then if he knew that he didnt have any damn meters on his van?

i promptly rang british gas to complain about this and they have given me a weeks free gas!

BOOM BOOM!!!!

The laugh may be on you. How much is a week's gas in this weather? £3? Missed appointment charge of £25. British Gas have just done you out of £22! :)

He turned up because you get compensated for a missed appointment, there is no right to compensation for a met appointment that can't be completed.

If the appointment could not be completed because they did not have the skills or equipment to complete the job then the appointment counts as being missed and £20 is awarded.

This is correct, although i do believe its £22 for gas. If an appointment is agreed and does not go ahead for any reason a GSS is awarded against the supplier and they then have to pay you £20 elec and £22 gas.

This sounds a bit underhand to me, looks like they are trying to fudge the figures!! Naughty.

Just out of curiousity, how does one prepare oneself to be brilliant for the visit of the gas man?

If I booked a day off work to wait in for some clown to fob me off I'd want a darn sight more than £20!

    Hi Skinticket

I'm very sorry about this. It's not at all the sort of service that our engineers should be providing. Would it be possible for you to send your name and either your account number or address to PAYGE_MSE_contact@britishgas.co.uk so that I can investigate these?

    Thanks
