Hi all, Bought a Orange San Francisco which arrived last Tuesday, and activated the new sim and recieved my number.
I called the customer services on trouble with payments and I got throgh to a overseas sales person. Told them the situation, was told the £10 top up would be given in 5-6 days, (Today IS the 6th day)
Any ideas on what I should be doing to get my top up? (Which I had to buy with the phone)
Thanks

I can explain.
When you buy a PAYG phone from the website, there is a legal 7 working day cooling off period. As top-ups are non refundable, it is only applied to the account once this 7 working day period has elapsed. Normally 7 working days = 9 calendar days (as weekends don't count), however as we've had Easter, there will be another 2 days added to this.
Hope this helps.I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂0 -

Must be a new thing... I've had PAYG phones before from Orange and the top ups worked straight away.
However just got a San Francisco myself last Tuesday. No call credit so phoned up Orange customer service (had to use my old sim cos you need credit to talk to customer services). They said topup would be applied within 24 hours.
24 hours later still no call credit so phone them up again they said it was a security issue that the previous operator hadn't verified my identity properly so they asked me a few questions and again said that it could take up to 24 hours for account to be credited.
Less that 2 hours later topup was applied.
Don't forget to log on to the Orange website and set your calling plan to Dolphin before your account is credited or you will find that all your topup gets used up in data charges before you realise.0 -
Here's a tip. Get the phone unlocked (check Modaco website) and get onto the GiffGaff network. £10 will give internet for a month (in fact at the moment it's free till the end of the month.)
I bought a San Francisco and the £10 voucher just went to zero in no time so got off Orange and onto GiffGaff.0 -

As already posted by Bogtrotter, go online and choose Dolphin as your tariff before you start using any data on your phone. Can take a little while for the top up reward to be added (100MB of data with a £10 top up on Dolphin).
The giffgaff deal Ed_Zep is referring to requires you to spend £10 of your credit on a goodybag to get "free" internet. With Orange, you'll still have the £10 credit when you have your top up reward added. If you want the texts and minutes that come with the goody bag, it can be a very good deal. If not, it could be more expensive than Orange. Depends on your usage and how much data you actually want.
You can alternate between getting free internet as a Top-Up reward with Orange and buying an Orange Data Extra (£5 from your balance for 250MB of data valid for one month) meaning a £10 top up could, depending on your usage, keep you in data for three months and not just one.0
