I suspect the OP means that Windows won't start

    Thanks for the replies.

    It's linux.

Just wont start, gets to the loading screen, then nothing, see the mouse pointer and that's all.

Download whatever variant it is that is currently installed, transfer it to a bootable USB stick, and get the drivers you need afterwards from the Acer website (that's assuming your *nix variant doesn't get them for itself through it's update facility).

    AAO 110 or 150?

I'll leave the BIOS recovery instructions up.
If it won't start you need to do a BIOS recovery.

You'll need a USB Flash drive and perhaps an XP machine so that you can format the USB drive to FAT.

    Recovery instructions here and here

The machine starts successfully, it's the OS that cannot start and that has nothing to do with the BIOS.

If there is no important data to retrieve, they can consider installing Ubuntu Netbook Edition

I'm leaving them up for anyone who finds this thread looking for a solution to a ZG5 that won't start.

Thanks, I'll give this a go. No important stuff, just want it up and running.
