    Been intrigued by this thread so when I saw a Tunis Cake in M and S today reduced from £7.00 to £2.00 I bought it.

    May be worth a look if anyone wants one in your local, in the Cake/biscuits section.

    We haven't tried it yet so I'll report back when we have.

    I remember Tunis cakes from the sixties(?) For about the last five years I've bought one from Tesco but didn't bother this year as the last couple were very dry and the chocolate wasn't very nice. I'll certainly try the recipes on this thread.
    I think the Fabulous Baking Boys chocolate cup cakes are the nearest to the Tunis cakes I remember from my youth ( although obviously a lot smaller!)

    Many thanks for your tip on the cup cakes. I agree the chocolate topping seems very close to my taste memory of McVities Tunis cake, but I feel the sponge isn't in the same league.
