As for being a small area. I took a mile radius. As its an area I walk around regularly so now well and has a broad mix of residential property.
Interestingly enough. The previous administration used this locality as a benchmark for the wider UK economy. Due to the mix of employment in the area, both private and sector.0 -

Personally, I think a mile radius in one locale is no benchmark for the whole of the UK and as such I should downgrade from small to miniscule:wall:

Just because they have something that you covet??? How sad.
As for the government running all rental properties, are you serious??:(
A lot of my family live in ex-council houses. They bought them as soon as they could, not to make a profit, but because they were poorly maintained by the council.
The government administering all rental stock? For "the good of the nation"?? Is that the same government that regulated the banks for the good of the nation??
Cor blimey mate, you're a card!....:D
I'm happy the bulls are scared of my proposals, this means I'm on the right track. Following nationalisation, the government can give the stock to a non profit body where clients are the members, this will both keep rent affordable and ensure good maintenance.
The nationwide BS outperforms many banks for service. I'm thinking something similar, but for housing.0 -

No, not renationalise social housing. Nationalise private rentals.
Money? A pound each property is being over generous.0 -

I'm surprised as many comments in here are calling for such a scheme.
As you were aware I simply asked you to share with the wider audience and educate them on the information you knew.
I'm not interested, but do prefer when I post somethinf factual to post links to the said facts.
Your link to the legistlation didn't answer the question about regulated authorities in England or who governs such schemes.
I've clearly showed such for Scotland, you have yet to for England despite your claims they do.
I've linked to all the information a person of even moderate intellect would need to answer any queries they may have. However, I can see you're struggling so just let me know what is confusing you and I will guide you gently by the hand to the answers you seek.0 -

I'm not struggling.
You've failed to show any area in England where LL's are required to register or be regulated.
You've failed to show who will govern the LL registrations in England.
I had shown a link where it states that the coalition had decided not to pass the requirement for registration in England and Wales and you've shown nothing to counter that.
I thought you had some knowledge to partake to those interested in LL registration in England and Wales, but it seems not.
I'm not interested in England and Wales Landlord Registration, hence why I'm not inclined to go looking for something that those that believe there is can't easily show.
Goodnight and good luck.:wall:

(sigh)... I have provided a link to the legislation governing Selective Licensing, a landlord registration scheme currently operated by some LA's in England and Wales, I have also listed a number of the LAs who are participating in the scheme. It is run by the individual LA's (list provided) and governed by the legislation (link provided). Within the legislation (see link) you will find how it is run, the governing body, the penalties and methods of enforcement used, the criteria to registering etc etc etc. Have a look at the information already provided, then let me know what is confusing you.0 -
Graham_Devon wrote: »Yup, that's quite a problem, do you not think?
Yup, that's a bit of an issue too. Cant be the FSA, Hamish has already said they don't actually regulate anything.
What would you want to counter it? We all know it's true that they have decided not to do this, so what on earth can "counter" it?
What exactly do you want them to provide? You want them to provide something which basically isn't avaliable? Reference to your above plea?
So you were interested, then a paragraph later, your not interested, so have gone to bed early?
Maybe you should have a word with Wee Willy Harris then, he seems to believe there is required registration of LL's in some LA's in England.:wall:
