 Absolutely steaming here. 3 weeks ago we got new wiper blades for our car before the winter weather hit harder. Went to Halfords and bought a pair of their decent looking ones for £19.99 and fitted them and we were happy with them.
Last night hubby was driving home with me from a night out and suddenly one buckled, hit the othe wiper and neither would move or wipe properly. Not good when it's pouring with rain, worse when it's 11.30pm and plainly   when you're driving on an unlit part of the M6 motorway with spray from lorries up ahead!!
Took the car to the local dealer this morning to check for damage and to make sure it wasn't a problem with the car that caused it, and to make sure there wasn't any caused by the wipers either. Decided to buy new wipers there and then and they kindly price matched what we'd paid for the Halfords one. :T for them. The mechanics were horrified at the Halfords ones, said they'd never seen anything like it.
This afternoon we went to Halfords and asked to see the manager. Couldn't believe it when he said he wouldn't refund us and accused us of bending the bloody things ourselves!!

Halfords in store customer service is terrible down here in the South West too. I would echo what the last poster said and take it up with Halfords head office for sure.0

There is a reason, why in the car community they are refered to as "Halfrauds" they are overpriced for low quality products0

Halfords sold us a car seat over a year ago, the assistant put in in our car and said it was fine, fast forward to a couple of months back we went to Kiddicare to get a car seat for our baby on the way, the assistant noticed that the seat Halfords sold us was unsuitable and could suffer from buckle crunch and not work in a crash  , we were horrified that we had put our daughter at risk for over a year, we took it back to halfords and did get a refund but the manager didn't apologise or seem interested at all i was gonna hit him i was that angry but the wife made me see sence and i didn't :mad:0

I emailed a complaint to head office yesterday and printed off a copy and posted that too, both with photos.
Daughter walked past the shop yesterday and said there was someone else in there shouting at the staff about money back or something too! One thing is for sure, we won't be going back there again and we've used the store a lot for car seats and kids bikes.0 -
I bought a bicycle from them around May to travel to/from work. It's been a bit of a disaster - I've taken it back 3 times for several things. Halfords have always treated me with some suspicion but this latest time they all but accused me of lying about what had happened (while riding along the road, my front wheel buckled to the extent that I couldn't ride the bike). After they took it away to "look at it" I kept pestering them with calls and eventually got through to the deputy manager who told me that they couldn't fix it under warranty and I would have to buy a new wheel. I told them this wasn't acceptable and I would be contacting head office. The bloke said he'd talk to the manager and call me back - he called me about half an hour later and said that they would give me a new wheel as a "gesture of goodwill".
So basically they're just trying it on. Why do we put up with this level of service in the UK? It reminds me of a conversation with a British ex-pat friend living in Spain. I asked him if garages rip you off over there. He said: "you'll be alright if you stick to the Spanish ones and avoid the British-run ones." In fact, the owner of the (excellent) garage I use in the UK is Spanish. I'll certainly do my best to avoid Halfords from now on.Let's settle this like gentlemen: armed with heavy sticks
On a rotating plate, with spikes like Flash Gordon
And you're Peter Duncan; I gave you fair warning0 -
I never go to our local Halfords, as they have nowhere, I mean nowhere not even a decent tree to lock your bike to....0

Halfords are a shambles, there staff are young people who know nothing about cars.
I went in there to ask for a replacement H7 bulb, the actual technical assistant was looking at me as if he didnt know what i was talking about and yet he is the technical expert, and all that H7 is, is headlamp bulb.
Oh and there prices are more expensive than main dealers.
Would never bother with them0 -
complete shambles, but if ever you need a 10,000 watt l.e.d bass box or chrome wheel trims theyre the place to go0

Reading these posts shows me i made the right decision in not buying my new wiper blades from Halfords. I bought them from Tesco instead, they cost me about £3 lasted me just short of 12 months and I exchanged the car for my new one Monday just gone and they are still going strong. I had been warned though about them being difficult if you needed to take something back and i wasn't prepared to pay their price so Tesco won, surprisingly.0
