I have been looking at flights for Miami for 16/12/2011 - 03/01/2012. The cheapest I have seen is £2300 for 5 people - flights only - this price (apparently) is only available over the bank holiday its a special that American Airlines are running. I know the usual statement is that you take a chance knowing it may flatulat and go down BUT as I was thinking it is over 8months away, maybe I could get it cheaper if I wait perhaps till Easter is over. On the other hand as the flight cover Xmas and New Year maybe its unlikely they would go down.
I know its down to me at the end of the day, but I'd like to know what you all would do?
Thanks

Looking at the cost of flights and rising fuel prices, that does not seem half bad.
I am wondering if flights will ever be cheap again? I want Chicago at Christmas and feel I will be priced out of the market.

That looks a good price (considering it takes in the Christmas holiday). If it fits with your budget then I would book it and be done with it. But do not keep checking the price in the coming months!!!

When I booked my flights for New York in 2007 we booked 10 months in advance for October 2008 and paid £750 return with B.A for 2. I kept looking after that and they just kept rising in price and became £1,260 by the time we went. The same happens when I book to go to Tenerife, they always rise in price. I would go with booking earlier rather than later,

I think if it is a price you are happy to pay then book. Its a gamble holding on for a better price and normally flights go up not down0

I have never booked or looked for flights to Miami - but £460/pp seems pretty good to me at this point in time, knowing what fares to other US destinations look like.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0

Thanks guys, I've decided to book later tonight. I have been trying to go in May, then August, then Oct but for various reasons (esp childrens schooling - sons last year in secondary school - normally wouldn't be so bothered) haven't gone, so now I know if I book today, for sure we'll definetly be going.
Miami here we come yippee!! Thanks again for your opinions.0 -

Same question but Aberdeen - JFK for £603 each for October with BA, is this a good enough price to book now or could I do better? I checked from Edinburgh and Glasgow but the additional cost of getting there outways the small saving.0

Hard to say. October is a slack month and so airlines should be offering good deals to fill planes, but rising fuel prices sort of ruins things at the moment.
The connecting flights also used to be thrown in to get you to a hub, but even these seem to be costly. The best thing would be to book if you are happy with the price and then its done. Personally I have to wait as I cannot afford the price offered today for me, so I may not go at all. If it comes down or I get a deal then I will book. BUt I cannot go at any cost.
What are the dates? KLM have tickets at £550 in October on some datesNO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0 -
