Hi all, I wonder if anyone can help? I am interested in the slimming world diet, but I don't really have the money to join. Can someone please explain the principles to me? Or suggest a good book? I eat quite healthily, but eat a lot, and I do excercise at least 3 times a week, but my weight is always the same. I often hear of quick weight loss on sw so would like to have a go as I think I need a kcik start!
Thanks in advance

You be careful tonight Emms. Though does sound like a combination of rushing , heat etc.
I know how you feel Code - Pms is such a pain. I always want to either sit in a corner cry and feel sorry for myself or shout and argue with everyone. Not at all unbalanced normally he he. :rotfl:
Sugar - I am doing SW...attending teh meetings though. Think I started about mid Septemeber and have lost about 9lbs ( I must stress though that I have not yet followed the diet 100%. Normally breaking it by having too many Syns on alcohol). Not sure I could explain the diet 100%, but you could look at the web site as that gives a brief run through. To be honest although it is nearly £5 a week to attend the meetings, I think its more than worth it for the motivation and support. Its all very friendly as well. Am happy to try and answer questions for you as best I can.0 -
9lbs is great, especially if you break the sins! So, I understand the basic principle that you have red days and green days, red being protein, green being carbs, but then after that I am lost!!!!
For example, can I eat all the meat I want on a red day and all the carbs I want on the green? What is classed as a sin? Are there any 'free foods'?
Sorry - I know I am a pain. I would love to pay the £5 each week, but seriously, we are spendinga ny spare pennies on either our 4 kids for Christmas or our up and coming wedding!!!

ah i always want to give blood but years ago when i was at uni, they were slightly stricter with the rules, so as I am Kenyan and had been to Kenya, they said no, as i could be carrying the malaria virus and then when i could eventually give blood, I came on at the same time and was sick so i didnt even get biscuits..:( such a wimp. I havent given blood since then, but would love to again.
esp to get tea and biscuits..hehe
ohh Em, the girls in the office are always chatting about make-up, clothes and perfumes and one of them is Italian so its all fashion fashion fashion. i dont wear foundation but i had a mac powder thing which was a wrong colour and i looked so tanned. hehe so they recommended i try bare minerals, so yesterday, while i was 'trying' to look for shoes, i ended up getting a starte set for bare minerals where they gave me the foundation mineral powder, primer, brushes and bronzer.. i only wear all that for special occassions as am far too lazy. heheBecame Mrs H on the 1st of October 2011!!

hey sugarwalsh, try looking online on their website as they give tips on there. i did the SW diet years ago and its changed now. but it is really, that on green days, u can eat pasta, potatoes, noodles and cook using that spray oil which is good. and then as long as u have ur intake of calcium etc then your good. i was always full on that diet,. i stopped going as i couldnt afford paying the weekly fees and i thought i cuold carry on but actually going for weigh-ins helped me to lose it. once i stopped, it just stopped!Became Mrs H on the 1st of October 2011!!

Hey Sugar,
SW is quite easy to follow once you get the hang of it.
You are right with the red and Green days, but you also have extra easy now which seems to be a bit of a combination of the two. No measuring on EE.
Syns are all teh naughty bits - booze (a medium glass of wine = 6 syns), chocolate, crisps, biscuits etc. A lot of breads n cakes. Also things like gravey and brown sauce are counted as syns.
there are loads of free foods - on the whole most veg and fruit. But different foods are free on different days. You also have super free foods which help speed up your weight loss and also healthy extras.
Healthy extras essentially given to make sure you have fibre and protein - again depend on which day you are doing, but for example one extra easy you might have 28g bran flakes or 2 slices of wholemeal bread as healthy extra B and some cheese or milk as your healthy extra A. I think if you do other days you can have more than one selection from each of teh healthy extras.
I appreciate that you are looking not to spend money - but it might be worth attending a meeting so you can get the book and have teh diet explained, but for starters - try the web site.
Sorry for such a long post.0 -
I really hope I have lost too. I weigh in fri morn. Last boost today. Had porridge for breakfast. I don't give blood, not because I don't want to, they just can't find my veins! I ha blood taken once, my arm was beaten black n blue n in the end they took it from my hand! I'm not having a pint come from my hand! I even had the expert nurse come....! Good job I'm not afraid of needles, I would be terrified after that.:T0

They won't allow me to give blood because of the EDS. I might bruise too much if I give blood and they don't want that.
I can't join in with the weighing in tomorrow. My nurse weigh in is only every other week and that is next week and my scales at home don't want to work any more.
I don't want to face the scales anyway after the week I have had. I have been so bad with food because of the pain that I'm expecting to have put on loads. My OH is coming back tomorrow so he can help with cooking but the pain is going away anyway so next week I will be extra extra good.

Olokia - glad to hear your pain is easing. No problem just weigh in every other week if you wish.
Jo - I have the same problem - small viens apparently. when they eventually find them (via the proper doctor) my OH has given and is having his tea and biscuits. I always come back black and blue and on both arms too where they have taken it in and out and twirled it around. they have never suggested taking it from my hand before - not sure I'll be asking them to.
Very hungry now - trying to decide what to have. Hev some soup or a sweet and sour rice thing which is free on SW. Decisions decisions. Not too sure why I'm panicking as can't lose much in a few hours... not sat my desk writing reports or in the car driving home for an hour and half. :rotfl:0 -
thanks - I have just had a look at the site and I think I am just going to have to go to a meeting. There seems so much to take in! I will be slim, I will be slim, I will be slim. Well, slimmer, anyway!
