Hey Slowlyfading,
Can I ask a really stupid question... how do you know the cal values of what you are eating? Do you just take it from the packaging? But what about anything you cook yourself?
Also, I am being cheeky, but something else I think you might know. As woman I think we are supposed to have about 1,500 cals a day. so around 1000 cals a day together with exercise should make you lose weight?
Anyway, am feeling a little pleased with myself as have lost 1.5 lbs!!:j Not much, but its a start.0 -
To find out how many calories *you* need based on *your* age/height/weight/activity levels you can sign up for a 24hr free trial at http://www.weightlossresources.co.uk. There are other calorie calculators out there but most just calculate your BMR (how many calories your body needs to just survive - ie if you were bed bound) very few include your activity level.
*edit* registration is easy - you don't have to provide any bank details etc, infact you could make the whole lot up as you don't even need to click on a verification email to get access to your calorie needs.0 -
morning ladies how are we all?
slow you r very good with y our food and calories. i find calory counting better actually. i had started but then stopped. last night we ended up having some Turkish food. i was not even that hungry but ate loads. i just dont learn!
we have some bread and humous to start with and then we ordered starters which we all shared, so more bread and humous, vine leaves, that sort of stuff and then for mains, i had a mixed grill which has a bit of cous cous and kebab, chicken, it was very nice. ididnt need the main as was stuffed from the starters, but i still ate, and then as we had chosen the special menus, we were entitled a dessert and coffee so i didnt say no and had some Tukish coconut icecream with some pepper mint tea. oh i had a glass of red wine! i am bad1 i was so stuffed. i felt bloated all the way home.i am such a pig!
i should have stopped after the starters! grrrr *slapping myself*Became Mrs H on the 1st of October 2011!!

Just to correct you Hadley. As a woman, to maintain your weight you need 2000 calories. For weightloss you should aim for 1400-1600. Slowlyfading, I think you're eating too little. Be careful your body doesn't go into starvation mode because you'll store fat. 1.5lbs is a good loss.Eu não sou uma tartaruga. Eu sou um codigopombo.0

Asbolutely Rups - the 2000 calories is a general rule of thumb. When I'm at target (8st11) I need 2000 calories according to Tesco Diets calculator. (I'm 5ft2.5, 31 years old , and exercise for only 30 mins every day). If any of these things altered my calorie need would alter too.0
