Ring resizing

My wife has lost some weight ovcer the past 12 months and now her Wedding ring, Engagement ring and Eternity ring are slipping off her fingers.
She wont use the snuggies and cannot use the clips that you can get as they turn her fingers green.
How much should I be looking to pay to have the rings reduced in size?

[SIZE=-1]To equate judgement and wisdom with occupation is at best . . . insulting.

The price will depend on a lot of factors - primarily what material the ring is made from (i.e. yellow gold wouldn't necessarily be too difficult to re-size, but white gold would be trickier and more expensive) and how much it needs to be re-sized. It's much harder to make a ring smaller than it is to make it larger, so this will be reflected in the price. It's been a good few years since I worked in the jewellery industry, so not sure what the prices are now. I would, however, recommend taking the ring to an independent jeweller to get it re-sized. They're more likely to be able to do it on the premises (meaning it'll be done a lot quicker) and they should (if they're good at their job!) do it well. Hope this helps0

The problem can be with settings - to reduce the size of a ring with certain settings is not an easy thing as it will upset the way the stones are held. Wedding band will be fine but the other rings with stones will be more expensive - you'll need to go to a good jewellers & get quotes.0

I have just stopped wearing my wedding and engagement rings for the same reason and would love to wear them again. What is a ballpark figure to get a normal yellow gold 9ct wedding band reduced in size? Are we talking 20/ 50+ pounds?Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These
(he points to some plastic cows on the table) are very small; those (pointing at some cows out of the window) are far away...:D:D

A local jewellers website say reisizing from £21.99, came across this http://www.ringtoobig.co.uk/index.php which I've never seen before, not sure I'd like to stick something to my wedding ring though, may be ok for more fashion type jewellery.
I'd think about getting 1 ring resized ( the one she wears furthest from her hand iyswim) that may be enough to keep the other's safe & if you are happy with the alteration take the other's back & get them changed.Booo!!!0 -
I think I paid about £30 to get my ring resized.0

I know when the wife & i lost weight (She lost 2 stone & i lost 4 stone) she had her wedding resized & when it can back she was very upset as the edgeing etc was different after they had resized it.I brought another ring for £30 as mine could not be resized.0

This is a method that the royals use ( I don't know if that will recommend the idea to you or not). :rotfl:
Crown jewellers G Collins and Sons are said to be fitting two beads inside the sapphire band to make it fit her size H finger.

Years ago, when I worked in a jewellers, I saw a thing you can just put inside the ring that made it smaller instantly - which is handy because in 10-20 years' time if you put weight on again you can remove it.
It's just a thin piece of metal with "tabs" at each end, you simply place it on the inside of the band and press/fold/bend the (4) tabs round the ring.
As that was a really cr4p description, I've googled what I meant and found these quite quickly, to help illustrate what I mean https://www.shopassure.com/images/W33376---RING-GUARD.jpg this one they've called a ring guard.
What I saw of them, they were easy to put on/remove and were quite flexible/almost springy.0 -
I have thin fingers but larger knuckles so my engagement ring was always turning round on my finger and all you could see was the band and no diamond!
My jeweller put inside the band two balls of platinium the same metal as my ring which means that the ring by and large stays in place but also if I put on weight they could also be taken out without having to cut into the ring itself.
It was more expensive as it's platinium so a gold or silver ring would be cheaper - the metal ring attachments that you can buy scratch rings very badly so are not recommended.0 -
hi
i recently lost 2 stone and my rings swing around my finger, instead of getting mine resized i put my eternity ring on the bottom then my engagement ring and then my wedding ring on top to stop them falling off.
this may be an idea if it proves to expensive to have them resized.0
