Best Premier Inn in Blackpool?

I'm thinking of taking the family to blackpool for a few nights over Christmas (ages away i know, but i like to be prepared!) and we'd probably stay at a Premier Inn . We have stayed in these before and prefer them to Travelodge and usually they are cheaper than hotels. Husband doesn't like B&Bs!!
Anyone have any insight to the pros and cons of the premier inns in Blackpool? I have seen that there is one near the airport, one called Blackpool Central and one on a industrial estate at the end of the motorway.
We would probably try to use public transport while there or a park and ride system.
We have never been to Blackpool before so have no idea how far any of these choices are from the centre of Blackpool/pleasure beach/tower etc
The girls will be 4 and a half and 18 months if anyone also has ideas of places to go/visit

I've not done Premier Inns, but the Travelodge by the football ground is very good.******** Never be a spectator of unfairness or stupidity *******"Always be calm and polite, and have the materials to make a bomb"0

The Central one is close to both the Pleasure Beach and the Tower. It's between the two, closer to the Pleasure Beach area but you could walk up towards the Tower which is closer towards the North Shore.
The Airport one is closer to the Pleasure Beach as it's south of the South Shore. It would be more of a trek up to the Tower area.
I've alwasy walked round the place but then I've not got with kids as young as yours - I think my youngest was closer to 8 or 9 the first time I took them so easier to walk a bit further without them getting tired (and it will be cold walking along the prom in December!)
Having said that, they'll probably find it fun getting on the trams etc0 -
The airport one is very out of the town centre can be reached by bus or car. It's a straight road back into Blackpool centre it is closer to the pleasure beach.
the one at whitehills at the end of the motorway is very far out and not as easy to access the town centre by bus but is by car. There is only a pub and b and q within walking distance of this so you'd need to drive to Blackpool everyday.
The central pier one is right in the centre of town and is walking distance to the tower and attractions in the town centre.
It depends what transport you have available to you and what you will be visiting.
Hope that helps anything else just ask and I'll do my best lolMake £11,000 in 2011 challenge - £120/£11,0000 -
There is another one at Bispham too, which is well out of the town centre, but on a main bus route and about a 5 minute walk to Bispham Village. The Airport one will have the added attraction of airplane noise of course.
To be honest the best located budget hotel is the Travelodge Talbot Square.
The Tower might be partially open at Christmas, but everything else will be shut.0 -
Oh yes...forgot about things not being open at Christmas
You might be better off booking for September/October and going there for the illuminations, when the main attractions will be open too. The lights are put on to effectively extend the summer season - this year they go from 2 September to 6 November. Avoid the day of the switch on (that weekend) as they put on so much entertainment it's manic. During the illuminations the trams are lit up and some are done up as boats, or with cartoon characters etc. They get busy but can be fun (though maybe less so with a young toddler if very crowded).
I used to drive through the lights late October as the clocks have gone back and they turn them on at 5pm, so I'd take my kids before the main evening crowds got busy0 -
Hi
It would be worth checking if the trams would be running then. They were taken off service over the winter this year and are only just being brought back into service for part of their route now.
I think (but I'm not sure) that they may also not run for the winter this year as well. They are upgrading the track so that they can run new fancy trams on them.

The trams are open between Pleasure Beach and the North Pier already. Think they may be closed a bit further north going towards Fleetwood but they got the main Blackpool bit open in time for Easter0

plus 1 for the TL by the blackpool fc stadium, its an easy walk to the centre, cant say i saw any buses though, parking is reasonable, it was £5 for 24 hours, if your driving i dont know if the other TL or premier Inn have parking,0 -
Hi
Yes part of the tram line has now reopened and they will open the rest of the track as they finish but I think they plan to close it again after the end of the 2011 illuminations (early Nov) to finish off the track upgrade - but I could be wrong on this.
There won't be a great deal to do around christmas as most things will be shut. Why not whilst the illuminations are on and the fireworks displays are due to be back this year.
If you're travelling by car I'd go for the Red Lion Premier Inn which is near Bispham. I think it'll be a bit quieter and it does have a childs play area outside as well.
