WARNING SOLAR PANELS & some Siemens S2AS-100/ Siemens S1AS-100 Meters

I wonder how long Scottish Power (I'm with Atlantic - which is part of SSE/Hydro) have known about this problem. I know that I have been querying my bills for the past 9 months - surely I'm not the only one. The other question I have is why some of the meters supposedly work, and not others. I think the meterwas originally supplied by NPower when we first built our house.
Also, those of you who have working meters, how much are you paying for electricity during the day at the moment. Am I correct in thinking that for the past few weeks it has been zero or very close to it?0 -
Don't worry, I'll answer it for you with a quote from Ofgem:
"the meter installation is most likely to be the property and responsibility of the Meter Asset Manager (MAM) - in most cases this will be your energy supplier"
But of course you will now argue that you are right and Ofgem are wrong:rotfl:
Cardew, no need for any more pantomine responses, this one is settled, one last time, all together "Oh, yes it is!" - the meter is the responsibility of Scottish Power, and most certainly not ASG.
In fact I'm sure that if ASG were to attempt to fix/change the meter they would be breaking the law.
I would Google that again!;)
Perhaps then you will note that your quote is for GAS meters!:rotfl:
In any case it really doesn't matter who owns the meter, it is up to ASG to sort out the problem - which is due to their installation not being compatible with the meter.
Or are you still maintaining your silly stance that a Utility company will not negotiate with a third party?0 -

No not at all, all ASG can do is advise that they think there is a problem with the meter and what the panels have generated. Scottish Power will have to change the meter, ASG are not allowed by law to change the meter! As you have at last agreed, the meter is not the responsibility of ASG or anyone else who installs panels.
The problem is due to the meter not being compatible with solar panels. All that needs to happen is for Scottish Power to put in a new meter, simples!0 -

Unbelievable - you have been wrong on so many issues and yet are still trying to save face!!
1. Gas meters!! - your ofgem quote
2. Negotiations with a third party.
3. Implying that people on this thread have said that ASG could change the meter or are responsible for the meter.
The only statement we have made is that it should be up to ASG to liaise with the Utility company and sort matters out.
You don't seem the slightest bit concerned by all your mistakes - perhaps it is par for the course for you? Most people would be cringing with embarrassment!(Oh yes they would!)0 -

I find your arrogance quite amazing. It would also appear that you do not like your views to be challenged.
1 - Gas meters - whats that got to do with it? The point is still correct, in that ASG are not responsible for the electric meter
2 - Negotiations with a third party - I would be pretty peeved if my details were shared out to anyone.
3 - You were saying that ASG should sort the problem out. My point (which you fail to accept) is that ASG, even if they really, really, really want to, cant! The reason being that SP are the ones that need to change the meter.
There are plenty of people on here with solar panels, maybe we should have a show of hands, who has had their installer check their meter for this issue? I'll bet that up until now none at all have.
You seem to have turned what should really be a very simple issue to resolve into another reason to have a bash at ASG. In fact furndire seems to already have it under control.
I also find it rather off the way you assume that everyone is too stupid to be able to deal with an energy company, yet more arrogance.0 -
I am selective in my assumptions and it was nice to have it confirmed !;)

... but why are you so rude to other posters???
You have devoted so much to this forum, so why spoil it with childish spats, instead of respecting other's opinions?0 -

Some people with old fashioned meters, like a friend of mine, are worried because their meter has gone so far backwards that should the meter reader turn up now, they would be expecting a refund on a bill already paid.0 -
I don't know which is worse - back or forward.
On quick reflection, mine is. At the least when the meters are spinning backwards, its the electric supplier who is going to have to prove how much they have used - & at worst they can only prove that they are back to where the meter was last read.
In my case, I'm going to have a fight on my hands claiming back what they have overcharged - but because I know of people (not personally) whose meters have gone back - I will be pointing that out when they are compensating me.
(Oh the power of the internet, 1, I probably wouldn' have had panels on so quickly (because I wouldn't have known about them, & 2, I am able to contact so many people on a forum like this)
Just shows that there are plenty of problems with the meters. New technology take up that has moved far quicker (because of the FiTs payments) than electric companies can cope with - haven't thought 100% through. There are always going to be problems when "new" technology moves so quickly. I am just so pleased that its not just my meter.
From 26 April to yesterday, I have used according to my meter
17, 22, 19, 16, 22, 25, 23, 21, 23, 17 .....
and produced
13, 24, 17, 17, 25, 27, 23, 20, 24, 16
Thank goodness for the past couple of weeks of blazing sun, or I would still be unable to prove that my meter is adding on the KW
Thank you also to HalloweenJack, #60, for letting Eastbourne council know there could be potential problems with meters.
I am gobsmacked that ASG knew there was a problem, and left it at that without making this more public - they were quick enough to be able to publicise their scheme via the press etc, and should have, in my view, been morally, if not legally responsible for letting all of their customers know as soon as they found out. OK, they maybe could, or could not deal with the electric suppliers, but they could have been much more voiciferous in telling suppliers as to what could happen as SOON as they found out.
That to me is where ASG have gone down in my estimations - as I really thought they were quite a reasonable company & not as bad as a lot of the others - re contract T&Cs).
Maybe they are worried that this could drop on them in a big way.0
