I agree. Who wouldn't want free publicity? :rotfl:

Yep that's how I read it unless there was more in the message???

:o I thought it was just me ~ so didn't say anything. That is exactly how I interpreted it. Without any sign of body language, it is so hard to know what people mean. I would have thought if she was annoyed, she would have asked for the removal :)

That's exactly what I thought, I've seen many companies ask/demand comps to be removed, hence I thought this company were jubiliant at many entries x

  • I think that it is strange that someone claiming to be the editor of The Bay magazine would choose the username Bay babe especially if she was posting to express annoyance.

I also cannot see any editor of a magazine such as The Bay posting up to thank a website for all the responses either!

My view is that Bay babe is probably someone totally unconnected with the magazine who is just trying to stir up a bit of mischief.

Got a pm from korky (cheers hun!) to direct me here & asked for site info from taff girl (which she sent to me - ta hun).

Agreed, we aren't the only Comping forum around & can't do anything about the others, but at least we can keep our forum on the straight & narrow by complying with website requests to not post comps/answers/etc.

I've just sent an email to the editor via the email address on their site to clarify whether it was a 'Thanks:mad: ' or a 'Thanks :j'

Will add to the Comping Guide, if necessary, when I receive a reply. If the editor is OK with their comps being posted then I'll let taff girl know so she can repost :)

It is so hard to clearly understand what people mean without 'seeing' them. 55% of any message is conveyed by body language, 38% by voice tone, pace, inflection, etc & only 7% by the words used....
Sad because you don't know what to do? Comping question? Take a look in the Comping Guide to find out

I expect it is just someone trying to cause trouble.

Perform a whois on my website and you will see I am the rightful owner, I could also publish an article personally written to you within minutes...

Paranoia is a weapon of mass destruction, and you'll note my comment in that thread was positive and welcoming of the exposure from this forum.

The difference being, that in that post you KNOW the poster was genuinely thanking them. In Bay babe's you don't.

And she hasn't been on again to confirm or deny what it was.
    Thanks to all posters :A

My website is mainly visited by theme park and rollercoaster enthusiasts and our previous competitions have typically received a dozen entries or so after about a fortnight of running. In this competition I've received around 100 in just a few hours so I suspected a spam bot or other foul play was at work, but I e-mailed a few of the entrants asking how they came across the competition and a couple mentioned a link these forums, which I know to be very popular. I immediately knew that was the reason for the flood of responses.
