in Credit cards
My Tesco pet insurance is now £41:eek:
I was wondering about getting a % credit card so that if the dogs get illl i could manage to pay for any treatment in an emergency and then pay it back.
As it stands my excess is £100 and i end up paying for all the visits anyway!

Was a 40 a day smoker for 20 years.
Decided to give up, and haven't had a fag for 12 years.
Halfway through losing six stone.
Looking forward to early retirement.

You'd need to get a new card almost every month to ensure you always had 9-12 months 0% remaining should such an "emergency" arise.
How about 'self-insuring'? Just put the £41 away each month in a savings account.0 -
Well, i had read about that, but my Lurcher is now 8ish (rescue dog so could be a couple of years out, no-one knows)
Jack Russell, is now about 13 (another rescue!)
so as they are getting old, i would imagine things may start to get costly, and like most soppy pet owners, i would do whatever it takes!
If i tried to switch insurers and declared their previous then the premiums would probably be sky high.
Tesco put my premium up from £30 to £40 almost overnight! I've never even made a claim during this time.
I haven't had a credit card for about 5 years so probably mistunderstood the system.
I thought you could get ones were you could spend upto your limit and have it 0% for 18months or so!Was a 40 a day smoker for 20 years.

If you're confident you could get one, and the vet would delay his invoice, then it could work for you on fairly small bills? But I would imagine you've been paying insurance to cover for 'major' events...not small ones - especially with £100 excesses?0 -
Not insuring will significantly increase the likelihood of you choosing to have an ill animal put down.
Given your affiliation to your pet, I'd suggest continuing to insure.0 -

£41 is not going to go very far if treatment is needed next month. For that matter, even £492 saved over a year would not go far ...opinions4u wrote: »Not insuring will significantly increase the likelihood of you choosing to have an ill animal put down.

I wholly agree.Gone ... or have I?0 -
1x visit to vet for dog with mystery bug... 3 nights in intensive care, on drip and pumped full fo drugs... £600... guess who was incredibly happy she always went for pet insurance! Before that 1x cat vs car incident... total bill after several operations and emergency call outs etc... £1500... at the moment the insurance for 2 10+years old cats and 1 6 year old dog is about £30 so I'll keep insuring
Try shopping around - what the insurances MIGHT do is exclude any existing conditions - so you might need to make up your own mind about if these would pose the majority of any potential future bills...DFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!
