Is O2 the best allround network?

Hi

I have been an O2 customer for years - I have landline, broadband and mobile phone contract with them. My mobile phone contract is nearing the end though and I am shopping around for a better deal. I currently pay £15 a month for unlimted texts and 100 mins. I am looking to pay similar for inclusive internet and maybe limited texts (300 say).

I have looked at O2 deals but they all seem to offer little for the cost tbh. But I love their service and coverage and have never had a problem connecting through them.

Are there any networks which come upto the standard of O2 that might save me some money. I am aware I will be a fiver down a month on my broadband if I end my mobile contract, but tbh it would seem I could get landline and broadband from Talktalk for similar price anyway. My landline contract runs till July.

Any advice?

Thanks!

There won't be much money worth saving (if any) for a reasonable deal, O2 are now charging £3 for 100mb data on the simplicity tariffs, but wait for the giffgaff spammers to tell you about the deals as GG uses the O2 network, but still what you may save in a month is hardly worth writing home about and the price of the lowest deal could well change :o

£15 for 100 minutes without mobile internet is a day time robbery.

For £10 p.m. you can get:

Also, without internet for £10 you get 200-1000 minutes or 250 texts with icardmobile.

    Thanks guys

I know there are some fab PAYG deals out there, but I want a new phone!!! I have a Nokia 5800 but would like something with Android. I'm quite impressed with the Talkmobile plans but am not sure they provide a good service. Oh what to do!

Maybe I should get a GiffGaff SIM for now, would it work in my phone or would I need it unlocking? I bought my phone on an O2 contract via Tesco. Thanks.

I am pretty sure both giffgaff and tesco sims will work with a o2 locked handset

Ropey network for call quality - poor 3G coverage UK-wide, poor 3G internet speed, abolishion of 1471 service, more expensive tariffs since the latest refresh, UK customer care staff who are very nice to talk to on the phone but actually do f**k-all to help you... I could go on....

I actually think I'd rather stick my genetalia into a mincer than use O2 again....
I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂

If you were unhappy with the CS try Voda or 3 instead rolleyes.gif.

BTW, the OP was asking about leaving o2 despite being happy with the connection quality.

I have a GiffGaff sim in my O2 Blackberry 9700 and it works. For me O2 is the best network.

In the end it horses for courses. Some like Vodafone, T-Mobile etc. As other people have suggested get a free PAYG sim on the networks you are thinking about joining and see if they work when you want them to.
