Thanks, MG; and have you considered the possibility that technology hates you back?

    Firewalker

To quote "absaf**kinglutely" - all I want to do is to be left to "colour in" in peace and the Unvivese keeps sending me new techie stuff to learn.

Thing is my job used to be "Technical Production Manager" - why am I resisting this computer stuff so hard???

Especially as I have been given an opportunity that I could only have dreamed about a month ago????

Consider my bahookie well and truly booted:D

Fantasia - my Dad has got COPD, he stopped smoking and got fitter. Its not gone away, and he still uses an inhaler, but its not got any worse in the last 22 years - so go, get yourself organised and enjoy you new healthy lifestyle.

BTW?? Did the Doctor mention that second hand smoke was just as dodgy? Mind you, second thought, leave that conversation until you are ready to have it.

    Off to catch up

Right, my friends, this is the first day of the rest of my life. And I have the unique opportunity to make life my work - a la Tim Ferriss. Let's see what happens next.

Marru some great advice there - the best of which is from Cheri I would say - you need to play the game here otherwise you appear as the bad-guy in all of this. So, facilitate the phone call, but then leave them too it - as DD if she's comfortable just chatting or if she'd like a deadline - ie "I can only chat for 15 minutes Dad as dinner will be ready then" as the first few times at least she might be more comfortable with knowing it doesn't have to be a "long" talk. You do *need* to work out the time for this to happen though, although there is nothing to be said that the agreement couldn't be that one week DD rings him, the next he rings her, but use the "routine" thing to make the point that agreed timings need to be adhered to. (Thus gently making the point that he's not always super-reliable and this upsets the applecart!) Good luck and breathe deeply!
Well without meaning to sound blase, I kind of accepted it when the doctor 1st mentioned it. I've had 3 weeks to get used to the idea, just didnt want to go for the results as that made it a reality, but I did make a decision based on the distinct possibility, I am going to LIVE with this, not suffer from it, because I'm a survivor not a victim (just a victim of my own stupidity for smoking when I knew the facts).
Saying it in here is the only time I will acknowledge it, everything else will change accordingly, diet is already altered, and excercise regime has been increased, I have to see a pulmonary specialist and then I can get on with the rest of my life yay.

Thank you, you are all :Axx

You really did didn't you - without being in any way negative about it (almost the opposite in fact) you accepted that was going to be the way it was. I am a good believer in people "knowing" things about their own bodies like this - that is why so many people with cancer (my Uncle was one) fight and fight, and earn themselves lots of extra time, and then quietly accept that the time for fighting is over. You of course are fortunate in that you have already taken steps to step things getting any worse - so well done you for that. :T

Cheri - well done on the house...

Fantasia - even weller done for staying off the cigs - COPD - they told DH he had it because he'd had a bad case of bronchitis in 1992 & then pneumonia (that I passed to him) in 2008.......he still gets letters to go in for checks even though all the docs have tried to take it off his records - so sometimes COPD is not necessarily a diagnosis in otself, just a collection of chesty illnesses that point to it - and since you're still off the fags AND ARE STAYING OFF THEM then hopefully you shouldn't get too much in the was of chest infections now.

And lastly - before I go out to have a seat & a read ('cos the 3 books I ordered from Amazon arrived & I'm reading 2 books at the moment but want to read all 3 of these now - Might start with Pay It Forward though)
MG - your chapters for your film - should we start deciding who is to play us? Or are we not in it:( - because I really think Angelina Jolie is my dounble (a la Lara Croft, of course) and those of you who've seen me will have noticed the uncanny resemblance :D

MG - still trying to decide who's a talented enough actress to fill your shoes......

Good afternoon/evening Matrix... Just sitting waiting for my lovely hubby to come home so we can start the weekend. I have had a great day at our team away day, with a fun exercise in the morning and then an afternoon doing community gardening work. I had a ball! No one spoke to me (thank goodness! I was not in a mood for people really today) and I just got on with the job and had the lovely people who were telling us what to do tell me that I was quick and accurate. I loved it! :) Got the tennis on the telly and just catching up with stuff that's going on...

Fantasia, your attitude is amazing. We are all here to support you.

(((Marru))) I hope you can work things out in a way that doesn't put any more stress on you.

    FW - enjoy camping! :D

MG - Technology sucks sometimes doesn't it? They say they haven't invented artificial intelligence yet, but they have invented artificial bloody mindedness!! :D I am really glad that DS1 liked his school!

    (((Greenbee)))

Hope I haven't missed anyone... but have a lovely weekend everyone.

Can I just say I love it in here:) Love all the positivity and all the people moving themselves forward in whatever way they need. Also love the way people share stuff - have already had a look at a couple of sites mentioned by others and put them in my list of possible inspirationy places.

MG - have you posted any new blogs or have I dropped off the email?

Had to see boss today to find out where I am next year. Had asked to stay put in Year 5 but he wants to move me into Year 4 next year. Was thinking about it beforehand as I had an inkling he was thinking about a move for me and I get to have a lovely enthusiastic class, with a fair mix of children, get to teach some fab stuff like Tudors and manage to avoid a very difficult new class. I have also put my name forward to do a Maths Specialist Teacher Course with Uni which would mean staying in the school for at least 3 more years - this also means I will be settled and have yet another purpose in my being there.

Will mean a lot of getting organised and hard work but I do have 6 weeks in the summer where I'm sure I can fit in some sorting and "this is the first day of my life" equally applicable here too:cool:

Would like to clarify - there are some nutters in the class I'm getting, but they are all happy nutters so we will get on just fine:p
