whats your view on this frugal mother in law gift for her birthday?
I have an idea as mother in law 2 b stated last week she is hoping to make a start on her garden and wants it to look nice.
Just looked on the calender and her birthday is 17th of may, i had an idea as i have already planted all my seeds ready to grow, i am planting mainly veg but have planted some flowers.
I thought i could find her a nice plant pot for her garden and gift her some flowers that i have started to grow as i think i may end up with too much, we are always stuck on what to get her?
id tart up the pot with a ribbon and a card or something.
I could also pot her a tomato plant? or do her some mixed hearbs for her kitchen window as well?
any ideas views feel free as we are going to have a really tight next couple of months???

I think thats a fab gift, i know that I (as a mum) would absoloutley love the idea that someone has put the thought into starting off seeds for me and take then time and energy to do something like that (you dont have to tell her there spare)0

fab idea, I would really love something like that. The thought and care thats gone into the gift is worth more than anything money can buy IMO.Happy days

I think it's a lovely idea. Just consider all the plants that go on sale for mothering sunday, who doesn't like their garden to look nice?GC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000

That's a great idea.
We are tight this year so instead of buying bedding plants for the hanging baskets, i've bought & planted tomato & strawberry plants so we get some colour outside but we can eat them too.Try to be a rainbow in someone's cloud.0 -
i have some tulips in the cupboard but they cant be planted till winter time but that would be good to give to her later in the year like christmas time.

fabulous idea
plant pots CAN be expensive
have you got a poundalnd near you?
these are great
http://www.poundland.co.uk/product-range/a-z/large-pot-planter/
they are around 2ft across
i bought 3 of them, as they stack (criss cross ways if you see what i mean)
would make an impressive addition to any garden for £3
i grew herbs in mine, but my mother grew flowers in hers
mine just starting to grow last year

:eek:sorry its sooooooooo big
been a while since i posted a piccy on here:o0 -
they look great we have a poundland in derby city centre, but we have a little shop near where we live and he sells bits and bobs for the garden and his plant pots and planters are £1 each instead of paying £5 at a garden centre or B&Q, so il be checking the shop out, hehas little troughs and things as well really cheap.Trying to make big cut backs!!!

ohhh i love those, they would be ideal for my garden..because it isnt a garden, its a square of concrete big enough for 3 wheelie bins and a rabbit hutch0

I'm off to Poundland later to buy some of those. Thanks:)Try to be a rainbow in someone's cloud.0
