TPS has no control over foreign fraudsters. These people are Indians calling from a call centre in India.

Should be easy to find not many Rogers in India or maybe there are .

Unfortunately the TPS is worse than useless against johnny foreigners ringing you, these scammers don't give a hoot about UK law.

All the scammers know or care about, is that there are thousands and thousands of UK people thinking someone is looking after them.

I know - I just say it with an indignant authority to my voice, and rely on their ignorance to let it fluster them.

I had one of these a couple of weeks ago - I asked her to hang on while I got my husband, as he was a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer and he would know what she was talking about... when he got to the phone, she was gone :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.

I rang the number back - it was a UK number - asked for their address, which the woman gave me, it was in Bristol. Bit of research to find out the contact details of Avon & Somerset Police.
Then did a really evil probably illegal but very enjoyable thing . . .

Hallo, this is Detective Sergeant X from Avon and Somerset police. We have had some complaints about telephone calls from this number. I would like to send one of my officers to your office on Monday to clarify things. Who should they ask for?
    Pauli Wilson (!?!)
bit more blah blah . . .if you have any concerns about this call, you can contact ... the real ASP number . . .. So one of my officers will visit you on Monday
So you are the police. Oh my God!! I can't believe it, you speak to me so nicely . .
Thank you, blah blah. We'll see you on Monday.
    Oh my God!

If I could have been bothered I would done another call on Monday about how the office was just a front address and we would have to trace the phone number.:rotfl:

I actually got one of these to hang up on my today!!

Thought I'd have a little bit of fun, so when they said they could see a problem with my computer I asked if it was a virus. They said (rather eagerly!) yes, so I then said "oh rats, I thought the virus I was developing was in the sandbox, I will have to hide it better before I can further develop it! They promptly hung up before I could have any more fun! Rather disappointing, was looking forward to the rest of the conversation!
What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare
